Sony Zone — The online site, the Sony Zone has allegedly been threatened with legal action if they continue to publish items critical of the company. A couple of things that are noteworthy here. First, when lawyers send threatening letters about to you about your publication immediately post the scans of those letters. These letters are “Letters to the Editor” that should be posted for all to see. For all we know the lawyers were being very polite in the letters (yeah, right). Second, if any of this is true exactly what is Sony thinking. This guys website is PRO-SONY! Geez. This is like Mattel going after all those Barbie sites. It’s dumb.

from the blog:

# It’s perhaps of interest to know that Sony has instructed its New York lawyers to order us to stop using the Internet to talk about Sony products. Not kidding. They quite literally accused me of harming Sony and its trademark by doing the things that created this site and your ability to access it. It cost me thousands of dollars to get these idiots off my back.

This is the same Sony whose Canada arm purchased our Advaced Cyber-shot eBook by the truckload for every Canadian customer who bought the cameras covered in that volume from June to November of 2004.

Obviously the parts of Sony that are interested in doing good things for their customers are not the parts of Sony who are interested in maintaining cordial relations with the independent supporters of their products as seen in our eBooks.

# This is the same Sony that has been hiding spyware in its music CDs. Not kidding. Google “Sony Spyware” and review the 10,800,000 responses.

Further to Jason, I look around my home. The only Sony product is an old radio / alarm my wife uses. I have already bought her a new one for Christmas (she doesn’t read Dvorak) so that will be the end of Sony in my house. Darn, I forgot the kid’s PS2. Well, maybe she’ll outgrow that ’cause I ain’t getting a PS3.

    Sony is suing THAT guy!

I just read the Sony Zone and I can’t imagine how he is hurting them. He seems to be promoting them!

I have posted FAR WORSE reviews for some Sony products on Amazon. Am I next?

Is there something severely wrong at Sony?

Just purchase Sony Viao notebook from the Sony store om 3-3-06 and found out 1 week later that they obsoleted it the next day. Make me mad that a company I trusted would do that to there customers without telling them about them being obsoleted. When I sent an email to them they reply this way.
