![]() ![]() Cruelly forced to do housework in a stereotypical manner for a gang of different sized persons |
For most, they are innocent tales that define childhood.
But some parents are ditching fairytales, believing they are politically incorrect or ‘too dark’ to read to children, a survey has found.
One in four mothers has abandoned the likes of Cinderella and Rapunzel in favour of The Gruffalo or The Very Hungry Caterpillar, written in 1969 by Eric Carle.
One in ten parents even said Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs should be re-titled – because ‘the dwarf reference is not PC’.
Rapunzel is considered ‘too dark’ and Cinderella outdated, because she is forced to do the housework.

A fifth of parents said fairytales were no longer politically correct, while 17 per cent worried they would give their children nightmares.
Instead, let’s tell a story about two gay daddies who have thrown off the shackles of male-dominated Western religion to raise their boy (adopted from a crack whore, ooops, cocaine enabled service provider) and girl (artificial insemination) to fight inequality wherever it appears. Now, don’t you feel enlightened?
#32, Mr. Fusion, gotta hand it to you again, that, to me, is the correct take on the whole deal.
Sarcasm seems to wasted here at times. Keep at it Uncle Dave, for those who appreciate it.
Oh man…what the world is worried about…
I love my old fairy tales…and I do read them to kids…and most likely always will. Good always wins here by the way…
I do not think that spongebob and all the other bs stories are “teaching” the kids anything. At least here you have a moral to each story. And don’t kids have to learn that those stories were written a long time ago? And that the times were a lot different from now?
There once was a shitty little country named Israel that occupied its neighbors territories…
IT was a devil of a country, and its people drank the blood of Palestinian children. The heroic Palestinians sent their kids with bombs into schools and temples to blow up those wicked Israelis.

Ok, the fun part..LETS TAKE that person raised on BARNEY and FUNNY FRENCH teletubbies..and introduce him to the REAL STREETS and not the safe MALL, protected with 2 security guards and a TASER.
And you wonder why our kids are unfit to do much of anything. WE HAVE to teach the fight and struggle in school, and in LIFE and to GET A JOB. Patting them on the head, and saying, “you will do better next time” ISNT HELPING YOUR KID.
He will NEVEr be able to cross a street in ANY major city or MOST towns, WAITNG for a CLEAR spot.
#33 Pedro,
Do you know why Captain Planet lasted SEVEN seasons? Because he’s a superhero with a Mullet haircut. Even if they were cheesy to the extreme with this cartoon you have to give them credit to know which demographic they were targeting.
BTW maybe the kids would rather see more of Bambee.

#43, ‘dro,
I always had you pegged as more of a “Captain Underpants” kind of girl.
“Snow White and the Seven Vertically-challenged Individuals?”
Or is “individuals” not considered politically correct?
