Xinhua – English — Interesting, no? I can almost guarantee that they will screw this up somehow!

BEIJING, Dec. 14 (Xinhuanet) — Microsoft and telecommunications provider MCI have announced that they will join hands to offer PC-to-phone calling service, in a bid to gain a slice of the rapidly growing broadband telephony market.

The service, which combines MCI’s existing VoIP network service with Microsoft’s software, is expected to launch in the first half of 2006 and will be called MCI Web Calling for Windows Live Call.

  1. Incognito says:

If ever there was a combination for technological dependability it would be…….no I can’t finish the sentence.

    DAMN YOU REALITY!!!

  2. I actually tried the beta service of a VoIP company that Microsoft bought – Teleo. It was a fantastic service, well priced, good features and great quality (equal to Skype but with better quality).

Granted, it may still yet get screwed up but it also may mean Microsoft may do it right.

  3. I second that motion. We’re talking about microsoft mixing with one of the lesser bound companies in our generation, MCI… besides, I doubt they’ll be supporting SIP, which means we’ll stick with Gizmo for our in house computers.
