Capitol Hill Blue: Bush on the Constitution: ‘It’s just a goddamned piece of paper’ — There have been a number of stories about Bush losing it. This includes the rumor that he is drinking again. But if this report is true, things will get very interesting.
“I don’t give a goddamn,” Bush retorted. “I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.”
“Mr. President,” one aide in the meeting said. “There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.”
“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”
I’ve talked to three people present for the meeting that day and they all confirm that the President of the United States called the Constitution “a goddamned piece of paper.”
Dude, at least pretend you are looking for truthful sources. Capitol Hill Blue is filled with more lies than Newsmax ever thought of.

We have had 5 years to watch this man. This is not news… it’s par for the course.
He himself said just this week that he is not interested in the opinions of others. That is not the sign of a national leader, it’s just a sign of an egomaniac.
This man (and those that surround him), given the chance, would turn the USA into a third world dictatorship, all in the name on national security.
Sad (and dangerous) times for the USA and the world overall.

That is quite simply a lie. He was specifically speaking about opinion-based news in the papers and on cable. It was in response to a specific question on that specific topic. Look, the guy’s a jerk…but if you have to resort to lies to make the point…don’t bother.
I don’t know about the source of this article but hell, if you’ve been trying to understand the logic of this administration for the last 5 years, I don’t think binge-drinking and temper tantrums can be excluded as possible causes.

Since the topic is the Constitution, let you remend you that as originally designed, the only body intended to be elected by the people was the House of Representatives (there still exists no Constitutional mandate for popular election of the President). The philosophical reason for establishing a republic instead of a democracy is that a small body of legislators is more capable of prudent governing than relying on the whims of the populas as a whole.
In other words, doing what’s right under a Constitutional framework isn’t always going to be what’s popular. Of course, that’s why the President and Senators (as originally designed) do not serve the same 2 year terms that your representative does.

Hillary Clinton last week said that as soon as she becomes President, she is going o divorce Bill, and force “acceptance of lesbianism amongst the unwashed ignorant masses” this was supported by three of her aides saying that she felt that the concept of marriage was a farce, and those “moronic religious nuts need to STFU” she went on to add that she wishes “my lord master Lucifer would execute all the republicans”
This story has the same level of legitimacy as the parent.
In the interest of fairness, I am a libertarian and think both the Republican and Democratic parties are HURTING my country, and the only difference between them seems to be abortion.
I do not have unimpeachable evidence that this ever occurred. Judging from previous actions though, I am relatively convinced that either this or something similar HAS taken place. The entire administration has garnered a reputation of a self serving, damn the people mentality. It appears that the only thing that truly counts is how much business can be thrown to Bushes friends. I think Bush cares less about Iraq elections then he does about how much Haliburton earns.
Michael Reed, you hit the nail on the head man! Boy I’m sick of both parties embarrasing this great nation with the constant bickering and gossiping. I think the political process in this Nation used to be an honorable one at one point. It’s all down the drain now. This is no different then all the crap you hear in other countries.
I really wish another party come gain enough following that would challenge the status cuo in this country. I feel like I have to choose between the better of two evils every 4 years. We’re better then that people.
This stupid story has Moveon.org or Air America or Michael Moore written all over it. But, then again, I’m sure if it were a Blue President then the Rush Limbaughs and Sean Hannittys would be doing the same.
It’s sad they have to resort to unfounded rumors like these. If you don’t like Republicans then don’t vote for them. If the guy was really that bad then he wouldn’t have won in ’04.
I can see how the Republicans are destroying America, but am a little fuzzy about how the Dems were doing it wrong. Could you list some examples that are on par with what has been going on for the last 5 years. (It may be only me, but I don’t put lying about a blow job on par with lying about the basis for an invasion that’s costing hundreds of billions of dollars, thousands of lives – American, Iraqi, and others – and tens of thousands of other casualties)
When a country’s leader treats sanitary tissue better than the paper the constitution is written on, I think it’s time to open one’s eyes and see what is really there.

Oh that’s right I forgot. Anything that doesn’t praise Bush is just a biased rumour mill. I am really sick and tired of conservatives who say that anything that isn’t in support of them is biased against them. Maybe it’s just that conservatives aren’t always right and in the case of this administration, the facts have more often than not proven them wrong. And by the way, no one’s requiring you to read (or comment in) this blog so if you aren’t fond of the stories, you have the choice to go find one of the many conservative rag blogs there are.

If you read the Constitution and do a little studying of American history, you will see that the federal system and the Constitution itself have been drastically reinterpreted or ignored quite a bit since about the time of the civil war.

The same is more true for Bill Clinton. Check out how many government contracts Halliburton got while Clinton was President, and check out how many elections took place in Iraq during that time.

Its always funny to see neo cons squirm and object when the constitution is brought up, but notice how they never defend Bush on exactly how he does which each individual right of the constitution. Or quote it, or use it to support their logic.

Just to remind all of you history revisionists: The whole idea for creating the Department of Homeland Security was pushed by the Democrats. Bush originally resisted it, but finally bowed to the political pressure.
Of course I hold Bush personally responsible for every dumbass idea that came from that department since its creation. A real conservative would have reigned in those freedom-stealing, bureaucratic lunatics … or at least tried to.

In Halliburton’s case bid or nobid doesnt matter. There arent that many other bidders.

Children call names, adults work. Both parties have a long history of rotten presidential selections, both have criminals, both have favoritism.
Anyone with a knowledge of history, access to a library, access to Google, or a clue does not need to have the failures of both “blue” and “red” (BTW using these terms involves aq good deal of ignorance).
For every Bush there is a a Johnson, for every Nixon there is a Clinton, for every Reagan there is a Carter. Hell Carter became a great man AFTER he stopped bing president, and I respect Nixon more since he left office than he deserved in office.
I really wish the citizenry would grow up.
Thought I’d add, that Capitol Hill Blue probably made up this story. They have several articles on their site with quotes from a George Harleigh who worked for Reagan and Nixon, and as afas an anyone can tell, there is no George Harleigh. They made him up whenever they needed a good quote.
