This Episode’s Show Notes by KD (Bubba) Martin:

  • From Gitmo Nation East and West, it’s No Agenda! Adam leads off with the #1 rock group of the lowlands from Patricias’s TV show.
  • John brings up an old column, “Liars, cheaters and thieves” in response to Adam’s rowdy kids. Follow the logic – this leads to riots?
  • Adam has some fun with airport security. John counters with 2 good books – Sinclair Lewis’ “It Can’t Happen Here” and (author unknown) “Life And Death In Shanghai”
  • Let’s discuss equating Obama with Hitler and the President’s creative bookeeping. How does Wall Street fit in?
  • Adam brings up the undersea cables that were cut last week. 14 countries lose international internet access.
  • John discusses the controversies surrounding Obama’s selection of cabinet and inauguration personnel. More on Obama and Hitler.
  • Is the military involved in “illegal” DUI checkpoints? This is disturbing.
  • Looks like the Earth’s magnetic field is flipping. Oh, no, it’s the 2012 end of the Earth doom and gloom!
  • What is all this mess about a digeredoo and barren women? Watch out, Nicole Kidman. Not bagpipes!
  • One word – Tamiflu.
  • Let’s look at the Reuters News internet pages. Hmmmm… More junk that’s not news. Where’s the real news?
  • Why bother travelling when the Pound is equal to the Euro? Don’t come to London, there’s nothing to see.
  • We don’t want an educated public. Don’t bother wasting the 10,000 hours.
  • It’s time for a new world order. Good, since no one knows the name of the Secretary of State.
  • Will OPEC jack the oil prices up again? We’ll see what Obama can do about it. Har!
  • Don’t miss the Federal Government employment internet / radio advertisement!
  • “The Greatest Depression” – look for it soon in an interest rate near you. Here it comes, listen to John’s scenarios.

Queue the closing credits — We hope you enjoy the show!

Running time: approx. 101 mins.

  1. Who says:

Tell Adam not to screw with airport security. They will stick more fingers in him than Paris Hilton and on a regular basis.

  2. soundwash says:

    on the military issue..

while we were all sleeping, (and still are apparently)

-in the Warner Defense Act of 2007, in a sleepy little section titled: Subtitle H – Other Matters
they effectively repealed the law that greatly limited the use of air and army military forces on US soil. -known as the Posse Comitatus Act.

Section 1076 of the 2007 act contained the effectively vague language which opened the door for the use of military at DUI checkpoints.. it was meant for *emergencies only* -however, as with all new laws of late, it’s wording is vague so as to leave its execution open to “interpretation.”

here is the text from section 1076:

    — snip —
“Revises federal provisions allowing the President to utilize the Armed Forces in connection with interference with federal and state law to allow the President to employ the Armed Forces and National Guard in federal service to restore public order in cases of natural disaster, epidemic or other public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or domestic violence. Requires the President to notify Congress within 14 days of the exercise of such authority. Authorizes the President, when exercising such authority, to direct the Secretary to provide supplies, services, and equipment to persons affected by the situation.”
    — snip —

imo, something so important being “stashed” a section labeled “other matters” is quite telling..

(note, supposedly 1076 was repealed in the 2008 defense act [HR 4986 -in Section 1068] -if this is the case, then on the surface, it would appear the military DUI checkpoints are in fact, illegal. -given the lack of an emergency..)

unless ofc, driving drunk falls under “other public health emergency” *shrug*

-anyway, here is a link to the summary of the 2007 Warner defense act:

  3. Alex says:

Wow, I can’t imagine having military guys running checkpoints on US highways for no apparent reason. I hope this was just somebody’s bad idea for keeping troops occupied when they return to US soil, and they’ll cancel it when they realize what it means. Most people in the military don’t have much perspective when it comes to these things.

  4. Alex says:

Here’s a good local news story about the Marines manning drunk driving checkpoints along with police:

    http://www.kesq.com/Global/story.asp?S=9534627&nav=9ptCdxzG

  5. joaoPT says:

The one thing that irks me about John talking about the 80 year cycle in economy, is that is totally bogus.
    1st there’s no cycle.
Sure there are cycles, based on lots of stuff, but if you consider them together, they don’t amount to any synchronous thing, hence no big one.
2nd When did John started counting? 160 years ago? 240? 320? And where. European economy? American Economy?
To make it a cycle it had to have happened at least twice before, and still it has to happen now. You need at the very least 3 major events separated by 80 years, to call it a 80 year cycle.
So he’s counting the Great Depression, and going back, what? Civil War? That was 1861/65. what happened in 1850 that had such an impact? and then in 1770? American Independence? French revolution? And 1690? And even backwards?…
    I just don’t get it.

  6. sargasso says:

    #5. I agree, entirely.

  7. paulau says:

Nicole Kidman has had a bay girl, it is called “Sunday Rose”, as for the bagpipe thing, is that the next chapter in the secret womens business

  8. Thomas says:

#5 If 1848 falls within the range of the 80 year cycle then (from wikipedia):

1848 is historically famous for the wave of revolutions that swept Europe and the world, starting in France. They significantly altered the political and philosophical landscape and had major ramifications throughout the rest of the century.

  9. Alex says:

I became skeptical about Dvorak’s cycle book when he said on Dvorak/Horowitz Unplugged that he wasn’t going to explain the reason behind the cycles, nor did he care about the reason, he just wanted to point out there was a cycle. Talk about the dumbing down of America.

  10. ncullen says:

Anyone else listen to this, and then find themselves buying gold bullion as an “impulse item”, 🙂

  11. WmDE says:

Don’t assume the person in the Army or Air Force uniform cannot be used to enforce state law. They may be non-Federalized National Guardsmen. Don’t aggravate them. Especially in Ohio.

  12. Uncle Patso says:

Hee hee — The Wikipedia article on the undersea cable disruptions mentions John’s MarketWatch coloumn:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_submarine_cable_disruption#19_December

“Given the potential economic damage of euro-denominated oil sales in the context of on-going dollar deflation, as well as the large number of cables which appear to have been disrupted or damaged, Marketwatch’s John Dvorak has written that the U.S. can expect to be blamed for the disruptions.[47]”

    Reference #47 is to:
    http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/middle-east-internet-interruption-looks/story.aspx?guid=%7B6FD0D324%2D8FF9%2D4900%2DBCA9%2D614914BA3E87%7D

  13. green says:

Operation Ivy Bells – look it up for a history of US cable meddling.

  14. dusanmal says:

    Re: Tamiflu, Dvorak

“There are concerns that oseltamivir (tamiflu) may cause dangerous psychological, neuropsychiatric side effects…”

“In November 2006, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) amended the Tamiflu warning label to include the possible side effects of delirium, hallucinations, or other related behavior.” – that may explain some Dvorak aspects 🙂

  15. Alf says:

Even though most of us are not familiar with
GMO foods by Monsanto, this is an important issue. The fact that Tom Vilsak, former governor of Iowa, who is the pocket of Monsanto was appointed by the Obama team to be the Secretary of Agriculture doesn’t bode well for the health of our country. It during the Clinton administration that labeling foods to be GMO free or containing GMOs was not allowed. As informed consumers we need to be allowed to know what is in our food.

  16. Guys… listen to CSB and the Candyman for their weekly view on No Agenda; Yo Agenda 62 Christmas Edition: http://www.yoagenda.mevio.com.
    Happy holidays!

  17. soundwash says:

John..you really autta take to heart what Adam “sees” more often..

take some time off from the family and work
and do some real background on what you speak about. more and more it’s apparent that you only have about 10 minutes of google knowledge on some of the topics you seem to be passionate about. -esp when Adam calls your bluff, so to speak -and you change the subject.

I’ve been reading you for at least 20+ years if not longer. your harsh wit and clarity of opinion in the past was always refreshing in a sea of “party-line towing” weasels.

it would really be a great loss to the tech community if you gave up your old convictions and passions and just coasted the rest of the way to retirement. use the vision of the “youth”
you surround yourself with and enhance the Dvorak
grit with the realities of today.

your great in a podcast format, but you have to be able to take your rebuttals all the way..no switching subjects to save face. your better than that.

    now, go do your homework.

    -s

your starting to sound dare i say “old”

johndo some homework about vaccines, GMO

  18. Hoo boy. Obama and Hitler? You lost me right there. I realize you have a bug up your ass about Obama, but try to make a little sense when you criticize him.

And all that hootin’ and hollerin’ “Gawwr-leee, it’s colder’n a witches tit today…where are those global warming enviromaniacs now?”. Gak.

btw, the Ponzi scheme guy’s name is pronounced “MAY-doff”.

  19. #19 – SW

    >>i see no way of getting a long A out
    >>of “madoff” using standard english
    >>mechanics..

Hey, I see no way of getting “farve” out of “Favre” either, but whaddayagonnado? The guy pronounces it “MAY-doff”, his kids the NYT explicitly states that it’s “MAY-doff”, and even Wiki-whatever states “MAY-doff”.

So informed journalists should get with the program.
