The HPC Analytics Challenge is an award competition honoring select technical and commercial applications that use leading-edge analytics techniques to solve complex, real-world problems. The growing need to leverage large amounts of underutilized data has led to the use of sophisticated methods for analysis and high-end visualization in conjunction with high performance computing, bandwidth and networking capabilities. The HPC Analytics Challenge is a unique opportunity for researchers, engineers and analysts to showcase innovative techniques of rigorous data analysis (forecasting, data mining, optimization, predictive analysis) and high-end visualization (dynamic modeling, real-time rendering).

Even if you don’t get off on Grid Computing at .5gb/s, even if you’re not fascinated by supercomputing horsepower on two continents being used to model a strand of DNA being pulled through a cell membrane — using a full-feedback joystick — It still Rules!

Rather than copying a lot of academic description, let’s leave it up to the videos the SPICE crew produced for dynamic modeling. The video is available for Quicktime and Windows Media Player — and low, medium and high-res. It’s your bandwidth decision, folks.
