BBC NEWS | Europe | Blind Belgian breaks speed record — I didn’t even know there was a “record” kept for driving blind.

Belgian Luc Costermans has broken the world blind road speed record, on an airstrip in France.
Mr Costermans topped 308.78km/h 192 mph while driving a Lamborghini Gallardo supercar at Istres, near Marseille, in southern France. Mr Costermans thanked his co-pilot Guillaume Roman, saying: “”Im very, very happy. Its a team effort.”

Mr Costermans took the record from Briton Mike Newman, whose BMW M5 reached 268km/h three years ago.

Found by Aric Mackey who imagines the conversation going something like this:

Blind Guy: “Hey can I borrow your $186k supercar and go for a 200mph spin?”
Car Owner: “Dude. you’re F-ing blind!”
Blind Guy: “So?”
Car Owner: “Sure,.. just bring it back full”

Ray Charles once bought a Corvette and insisted on taking it for a drive. He ran it into a ditch before he got out of his driveway.

Insurance companies, generally, disapprove of blind people driving cars. Just saying.
