As teen pregnancy rates are dropping in most parts of the nation, there’s been an alarming spike in the number of pregnant girls in the Canton city schools. Of 490 girls who attend Timken High School – 65 are pregnant. A total of 99 are pregnant district-wide. Superintendent Diane Talarico says parents and the community have to take their share of responsibility…

Talarico says the district will start parenting classes when school opens next week. It is reviewing a new Life Skills program for students in the sixth grade. Talarico also says the district is reconsidering the abstinence-only sex education program.

Yes, the emphasis was added.

i’m sorry, John, but you missed the funniest part…

    their mascot.

  2. Ima Fish says:

Note to self: Buy condoms. Move to Canton.

  3. R Taylor says:

A 40 year old parent that has to finish raising a 15 year old, and her new baby. Ask them next year if that abstinence only program still sounds good. many years ago in another life I taught high school. I thought then that mandatory yearly contraceptive injections should be used. Society along with individuals should have a few rights.

  4. Angel H. Wong says:

What do you expected from a republican goverment? I bet that those who preach morals are virtue are driving in a SUV with tinted windows in the middle of the night for some transvestite to ride them doggy style.

Next time they should chemically castrate their youngsters if they (the parents) don’t want them to get laid.

  5. Pat Robertson in Disguise says:

“Whose fault is it that more than 13 percent of Timken’s girls are with child? Some would say fault-finding isn’t a fruitful exercise, but in this case, it’s critical. Suspects range from movies, TV and video games to lazy parents and lax discipline. Only one thing is sure: Schools don’t impregnate children.”

I thought the chief suspect should have been SEX. The school, Timkin High School, has nicknamed its sports teams the TROJANS. Someone here is not with the PROGRAM.

  6. Teyecoon says:

Look for a Mormon teacher who has recently been hired in the school in the past 8 months. He has reached his goal of an entire school filled with his wives and kids.

I guess this proves that they shouldn’t provide sex education to children as it would simply reinforce that what they did was ok.

The moral is that ignorance proliferates much easier and more rapidly than intelligence.
