Hope Upon Hope for Interactive TV — Tomorrow the Interactive Television Alliance has its event in Long Beach on the Queen Mary. Doesn’t anyone see any irony in this?
Keynotes by Intel and Microsoft rather than IPTV companies such as Minerva Systems or Tandberg tells you how far off they are with this. IPTV is in and ITV is out.
Every once in a while, in order to move forward– you need to move back, all the way back to the beginning. That’s the idea behind the Re-inventing Television Summit. We are approaching a period of rapid development in the television industry. This is the time to challenge all assumptions, de-construct years of bad habits, and re-build a new model with a fresh point of view
“The first half of the program will be led by 5 Mentors, all of whom were once CEO/President of a major TV studio/network in the ’70s/’80s. We’ll be de-constructing the whole history of the television business, listening to the stories from those who were there.”
What an exciting 1st-half. What will be the theme? How about: It all went down the toilet, after we left! or It’s all Clinton’s fault!
“The second half will be led by 5 Futurists, all published authors who have expertise in advertising, technology, media, design, or philosophy. We’ll be re-constructing a best-case model of the TV industry, using the tools we have available today.”
And what tools will the Advertising and Philoshophy “Futurists” propose we use?
At least they get to stay in a stateroom and have their meals in the ship’s dining room – so it won’t be a total wash.
Hey John,
Have you got that bug report re: Safari submitted to Apple, yet?? 🙂
