The Prime Minister’s Office has asked Canada’s secretive electronic counter-espionage police to investigate how someone might have gained access to a government Internet service to send out spoof emails in Stephen Harper’s name.

The RCMP and the Communications Security Establishment have been asked to track down the source of at least two prank emails issued Sunday to scores of people signed onto the prime minister’s email service.

One begins with the greeting, “Hi The Average Canadian, Stephen Harper wanted to tell you” that he intends to destroy health care, make Canada the 51st U.S. state, is beholden to the Alberta tar sands, and dislikes all things green except for the almighty American dollar.

I imagine it’s unlikely the hacker will have a shot at sanctuary in the United States. Especially Alaska, eh?

    That is photoshopped isn’t it?

Neither is especially good at acting – just lying. Not quite the same.

  3. James Hill says:

A lot of angry liberal hate getting spewed today. Must not have been a good weekend for the left, considering there’s no hay to be made on the financial front, and the media isn’t being allowed to focus back on Obama.

Guys, relax. The election is only 40 (or so) days away.

  4. god says:

Sounds like laughter to me. You must remember that from your childhood. Or was it all military school and paternal discipline?

  5. James Hill says:

#4 – The only laughter here is when I’m owning people, like yourself. Besides, you can’t even post under your usual name. That’s ownership.

If McCain wins I’ll be moving to Canada.

  7. god says:

Ooh, ooh! Must have offended the spiritual side of James. Or did the discipline come from a priest?

  8. Pixbird says:

#6 You better get used to saying “Eh” alot. Also, remember Canada is cold, temperatures hardly ever get above 35 degrees; real degrees, not that goofy centigrade stuff. Take a gun (if you can) as polar bears and elk roam the streets unchecked in even the largest Canadian cities. Take some vegetables with you as the Canadian diet consists exclusively of donuts and beer; with the occasional government supplied meat (Ie. roadkill from above city-roaming bears and elk). Most Canadians are harmless unless startled. If you should find yourself in a crowd of Canadians you might try saying something like “How aboot the Neil Young, eh?” or “The Leafs are hosers, eh?’ Luckily uyou will still get to watch real (American) TV shows on cable, as Canadian programming consits of two channels; one is 24 hours of curling and the second is 24 hours or curling in French. Enjoy your stay!

#3: Dude, enough already with the “angry liberal hate” stuff. It’s really getting old.

(NOTE: This is a free country and this is not my blog and so I have no authority to enforce anything. I’m just expressing my annoyance at someone who seems to log in and post practically the same comment every time.)

At least mix it up a bit:

“There all you pinkos go spouting all your commie crap again. Why don’t you all just go back to your commune and get off MY internet!”

“If you hate America so much, why don’t you all just move to California!”

    or even,

“When you were a child you pledged allegiance to this country and now you go betraying it by disagreeing with the President or his party! That’s un-American! You betrayed a solemn vow and are doomed to burn in Hell!”

    ??Owning People?? please…

(FINAL NOTE: To avoid annoying others with back and forth ranting, further angry responses to this response will be ignored. If you want me to pay attention, email me at “alex at wollangk dot com” where it can be a private nuisance instead of a public one.

To everyone else: Sorry, sometimes I just can’t help feeding trolls.)

Harper has the advantage of being able to call snap elections – so, Canada will get their next round of lying over in just 3 more weeks – while we founder on the accumulation of 2 years worth of bi-partisan manure.

Now, there’s a good reason to move to Canada.

James Hill is a bot. You will note that he NEVER posts anything of substance. It’s always the same old dreary “angry liberal hate” or “I owned you” or “your worship is noted”.

“He” has a little library of a few canned messages, and posts them over and over and over again. I usually just skip past his posts, as they are so content-free.

  12. SimplePanda says:

    god-#10:

Actually, Harper DOESN’T have the advantage of calling snap elections.

Harper whined about this very issue for years and years. He accused the Liberals of calling snap elections for nothing more than political gain. He hated the idea so much, his government passed a law in April of 2007 that gave fixed dates to Canadian elections.

Harper even struck down proposed amendments to that law that would have provided for adjustments to the election date based on religious holidays, etc.

Of course, for purely political reasons he has just called a snap election.

Not that I’m surprised. This is hardly the first example of Harper doing a complete 180-degree flip flop on a stated position. Floor crossing, appointments, income trust taxation, the senate, cronyism, “transparency”… Harper has betrayed his stated positions on all of these issues and more.

All of this and I haven’t even mentioned blowing through a $12B surplus, the “CDMCA” copyright amendments, and the seemingly endless string of ministers and staff making fun of dead food poisoning victims, racially slurring natives and calling for concealed weapons on the streets.

I hope Michael Moore is directing. Moore makes excellent and truthful movies; at least, that what I heard from the James Hill clan.

  18. chuck says:

I don’t see why this would require an investigation by the RCMP – someone needs to explain to the Prime Minister that its trivially simple to spoof an e-mail address (although obviously the e-mail header will give away the actual routing information).

And it’s not much harder to spoof the header too, without having to hack the originating mail server.

It’s the interweb – it’s not rocket science.

  19. Pembina says:
