FBI searches Kernell apt., roommates subpoenaed | ZDNet.com — There is something mildly funny about this fiasco. SO is this kid the one who also targeted Scientology? This should be fun to watch.
The FBI searched the apartment of David Kernell, the son of a Democratic Tennessee state representative, suspected of breaking into Sarah Palin’s Yahoo email account. Three of his roommates could testify before a Chattanooga grand jury.
And, hey, once you’ve hacked the governor’s email (because, it’s clear, this account was used for official business; it wasn’t just her account for family photos) and the entire Internet has fingered you as the culprit, why not throw a party? Apparently that’s what Kernell was doing because the FBI broke up a party when they stopped by to serve the search warrant.

Yeah, of course he’s a “fan”. He’d like to bang her!!
““I come from Arkansas, I get why she’s hot out there, why she’s doing well,”“. With HOT being the operative word.

Oh, I’m sure it won’t. Those Republicans can get away with murder. They’ll find some way to sweep this under the carpet.
The right-wing media will continue to harp on the horror of having her privacy violated by that evil son-of-a-Democrat hacker. That kid will fill up the pages of Faux Spews, World Net Daily, and the blogosphere, he’ll be charged, convicted, sentenced, etc.
But the real crime here, Palin’s Cheney-esque use of clandestine e-mail accounts to keep her monkey business under the radar (can’t be having any of those nasty subpoenas getting in her way!) will probably go unpunished.

Kinda like the Dem Rep.Jefferson who had $100k stuffed in his refrig and is still walking around free? LOL!
One lesson here is that you can’t trust “anonymous” service providers to protect your identity.
I guess this hacker was using Ctunnel.com and the owner, Gabriel Ramuglia, sang like a canary when the FBI called.

Not when you violate the TOS agreement.
Duh!
Here’s a better lesson. If you are going to violate US law, don’t use service providers within the US or a country that cooperates with US law enforcement.

Lets not forget thought that Said he couldn’t link the IP address to Kernell and that he thinks the FBI is investigating the wrong man and from what he can tell the IP address doesn’t look consistent with the media reports.
Hum? The only guy that can actually connect the 2 IP’s together says he doesn’t think that Kernell is the one responsible. Nice piece of info that some on the right wing want to ignore.

That was $90k, O’Furniture. And even though he’s still “walking around free” (the charges are still pending, and he may not be for long), he was stripped of his membership in the
House Ways and Means Committee, his aide and the iTech guy were sentenced to 7 years in prison, and I’d guess that HIS chances of running for VP are pretty much shot.
Let’s see if Hockey Mom gets the same treatment, or if her malfeasance gets swept under the rug by the Republican-controlled FBI and Secret Service.
Care to put some $ on THAT????
Personally, I’m betting that the “hacker” kid stays in the right-wing headlines until after the election, then Hockey Mom will say something stupid like “ooooh, I’m so sorry, I didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to conduct clandestine offical state business using my Yahoo e-mail account…. it won’t happen again”.
LOL is right!
Those f&ckers get away with murder.
#67 “Let’s see if Hockey Mom gets the same treatment”
I’m sure if she is caught committing a felony she will. As of now there nothing showing that…

>>I’m sure if she is caught committing a felony

Not necessary to have committed a felony. Just to be shown to be a sleazy, underhanded cheater-pants who slinks around conducting official government business in unauthorized ways, so that if the police or FBI come a’ knocking, those communications won’t be subject to subpoena.
>>As of now there nothing showing

As the Carpenters would say, “We’ve only just begun”. Hockey Mom’s shady tactics were only reavealed less than a week ago.
Provided the Republican-controlled FBI and Secret Service aren’t ordered to quash an investigation into Palin’s monkeyshines, I’ll bet we’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg.
As I say, the gal’s got things to hide.
Come on Mustard, you’ve used up a lot of bandwidth blathering on and on – – where’s your evidence? You obviously can’t find it
#26, uth,
Thank you for posting that. That had been my understanding previously and to which I had earlier alluded to in prior comments. I just don’t have the time or inclination to look it up at the moment. It wouldn’t matter anyway. The wing nuts around here think this kid is going down. They also think the economy is just fine.

The only evidence is the evidence everyone has; messages to and from Alaska state email accounts from her personal non-secure Yahoo! account.
Enough to put her in jail? Of course not.
Enough to taint her as a VP running mate (especially if she doesn’t come clean and clear up the questions)? You bechta.
#72 Let’s see, an email sent to a state employee from a personal account, not illegal.
Or, personal & financial connections to a terrorist.
Hmm, which is the bigger taint?
LOL

That remains to be seen. I’m not an Alaskan lawyer, so I can’t say. Whether it’s illegal or not (and having friends who were “revolutionaries” in their hippie days 40 years ago is CERTAINLY not illegal), it demands an explanation. I she going to be sending nook-ular codes and CIA secrets from Yahoo also?
As usual, the coverup is worse than the crime. If these were all messages about appointments at the day spa, or when her son’s hockey games were, let’s see ’em.
Full disclosure. After 8 years of secrecy and lies from Dumbya’s administration, we can’t risk having somebody who communicates in a way that’s “not subject to subpoena” sitting in the Oval Office.
I read that the hacker made the mistake of using an on shore anonymizer service. The anonymizer turned over their translation log to the investigators. The log indicated who the likely hacker was.
