Google ShapeWriter+iPhone. Maybe Swype(d) wasn’t such a great name after all!

    Cheers!

I use WritingPad on the iPhone (what RASTERMAN was talking about above) and love it. It really is a lot quicker than “thumbin’ it in”. It’s not perfect, you still have to manually type in words when it guesses wrong, but it does give you a list of common words when it doesn’t know what the hell you’re talking about. There’s at least a couple of companies promoting their own version of this idea. If any of it really catches on, expect happy lawyers.

That was novel, but wasn’t impressive at all. I raced him using my blackberry on all of his examples, and was easily able to beat him (with time to spare).

Plus, I don’t want to use word lists that guess what I was trying to type – I want to type what I was trying to type.

  4. Thinker says:

No I really liked that. It could really work.

  5. JoaoPT says:

What I would like was an app to type what I was THINKING…

  6. itate says:

I want to here John C Dvorak’s prediction on this. Cause he’s usually right.

I would have liked to see the reporter type s/g using uncommon words to see how well it really works… How extensive is its dictionary?

Cool way of typing… this guys is a smart man. I specialy love the last thing he said. Very interesting!

  9. Dave W says:

I have no desire to input text into any hand held device. Not being a 15 year old girl has a lot to do with it. Not owning a crackberry helps, too.

Anyone notice that non-wireless decent keyboards are getting hard to find? I still haven’t figured out what the advantage is to a wireless keyboard for a compute. If you are far enough from the computer to need wireless, you are too far away to read the text anyway.

What I REALLY want is a cell phone that produces and reproduces speech as well as a Western Electric 500, and gets reception in places other than 3 feet from the nearest tower. Until they get those things fixed, all the other crap is pointless.

  10. #7. It’s one of those things that the one guy can demo perfectly but when you get it it won’t work as well. I’ve seen too many great ideas that look slick when demo’d by the guy who has it down cold but nobody else can do it as well. Rafe didn’t use it, did he? Also I just know that when this sort of software makes mistakes it must be a nightmare. Dave W. is right.
