Doesn’t say what the charges would be. This sounds too goofy to be anything other than something that was talked about and discarded because kidnapping the president of Iran just might be considered a tad provocative and lead to — oh, I don’t know — all out nuclear war between the two countries?

However, Haaretz is far from a National Inquirer-level rag and the interviewee is someone in a position to know.

Israel may abduct Ahmadinejad, Eichmann kidnapper hints

Former Mossad agent Rafi Eitan hinted in an interview with Germany’s Der Spiegel magazine that Israel may abduct Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in order to bring him before the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

“It could very well be that a leader such as Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad suddenly finds himself before the International Criminal Court in The Hague,” the Minister for Pensioners’ Affairs told the German publication in an interview published Monday.
[…]
Eitan said “[The] era [of hunting Nazis] is over. But that’s not to say that such operations are completely a thing of the past.”

Asked what he meant by that, the former Mossad agent hinted at the possibility that Ahmadinejad could be abducted, as the Nazi war criminals had been, and placed before the international court.

They should do it if there was a warrant for arrest issued by the World Court? Don’t know if “anyone” can arrest anyone and then make charges in front of the World Court–doesn’t sound fair in a vacuum.

But yea–lots of evil perpetrated by people in charge of governments and “the World Court” should take action that is available to them==make those killing field politico’s unable to move outside their own gangland for fear of arrest==don’t need them giving speeches in colleges in the USA while attending the UN!

I always wonder when people who aren’t insane do evil things, they have to have some awareness of it, some sense of shame, or are they all just like Bush?

  2. Ah_Yea says:

No, Israel won’t abduct Ahmadinejad while he is in office, but…

Should he be kicked out of office and disgraced, well then they just might.

Iran may go to war over the abduction of a standing President, but probably not over a disgraced former President!

What a bonus this would be for the west to stop Iran’s nuclear program. Put Ahmadinejad on trial for refusing to cooperate with IAEA’s demands to stop enrichment.

This would probably be much more effective and far less risky than bombing Iran’s centrifuges.

  3. Dallas says:

As the world cop, America is responsible for apprehending criminals, not Israel. If we need to outsource this we should keep those jobs here at home.

Haliburton’s Robocop division should get fair consideration.

  4. bobbo says:

I don’t think mere preparation to wipe the Jewish State off the face of the earth is grounds for action from a quick read of wiki.

Makes me wonder about the “Member in Good Standing” rules of the UN though. You’d think there would be some financial penalties that could be brought against beligerent states. Lack of imagination, or just all paid off?

  5. Paddy-O says:

Uncle Dave said, “oh, I don’t know — all out nuclear war between the two countries?”

    How’s that? Iran doesn’t posses nukes…

#4 “I don’t think mere preparation to wipe the Jewish State off the face of the earth is grounds for action from a quick read of wiki:”

LOL! Sure it is. Wiki? LOL

  6. Uncle Dave says:

#5: With the Russians involved in there, who knows what they have now?

  7. Springheel Jack says:

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is one of Obama’s favorite clerics and one of his most beloved spiritual guides.

No doubt Ahmadinejad loves America about as much as Rev. Wright.

  8. Improbus says:

Israelis give Jews a bad name. Oy!

  9. green says:

I like how they make it sound like it’s possible. Propaganda is in full swing. Gl with that “abduction” Israel, and don’t let the indifference hit you on the ass when you’re wiped off the map.

  10. Paddy-O says:

#6 “With the Russians involved in there, who knows what they have now?”

Well, they don’t have nukes, YET. So, how is it going to provoke a nuke war, at this time?

  11. springheelisanidiot says:

I think that they should kidnap Bush and bring him to the Hague to stand trial for war crimes in Iraq….

  12. lbjack says:

Kidnapping is such a hassle. Just assassinate the bastard and blame the Sunnis.

  13. Billy Bob says:

The charge would be thought crimes against humanity.

  14. Mr. Fusion says:

Kidnapping a sitting President who has not started a war, and sending him to the World Court is a great idea. The downside though is that it sure would hamper international travel as NO dignitary would be free from arrest by any country. Hell, you would even start to see trials held by individual countries instead of the International Criminal Court.

  15. Paddy-O says:

#12. Wait until he’ll be making a speech surrounded by his security thugs and use a cruise missile with cluster bombs…

  16. Bahramks says:

This is one of most stupid ideas i have ever heard. Take him to Int. court for what crime? has he done anything that any other leader hasn’t? for s***’s sake, how many towns and villages has US actually wiped out in her “just wars”? how many civilians have Israelis killed since 1950 in their land grabs? what about Darfur, what about Chinese…
what this dingbat said about the Israel an the map was a quote from the dead leader of Iran and don’t forget that Iran is a closed country, what they say inside is for “internal use”, they have to find enemies to justify the miserable condition of the country to stay in power and continue enriching themselves.

Btw, Iran does not even get close to having enough resources necessary for any kind of war, what you see i the news are just fire show, the military is old and demoralized (officers need a second job to support their families), thus Iran will not be invading anyone anytime soon. all it can do is proxy war, which can be nasty in its own right.

  17. ECA says:

Who remembers SOME of the rulers of this country…?

In Iran, this person is a MODERATE..REALLY.

  18. Paddy-O says:

#18 “Who remembers SOME of the rulers of this country…?”

This guy isn’t the ruler. The religious nuts are.

  19. zorkor says:

How about we arrest bush for lying to the public about WMDs, about Iraq, Afghanistan. How about we arrest Cheney for oil deals in Iraq. How about we arrest all of the Bush administration and send them somewhere remote in Afghanistan mountains. Now that will be a great idea.

Who cares about Israel, you can sneeze and the country will start shivering.

  20. deowll says:

    Trail?

Aren’t you confusing these guys with somebody else?

It they get him in their rifle or bomb sights the only question is did they miss or not.

  21. qsabe says:

Interesting thoughts here. High levels of intellect being show eh!

No one is saying anything about 4 years from now are they. .. What four years, the end of McCain’s presidency.. Won’t that be in 2012. Isn’t that the predicted end of the world by all the predictors of the end of the world. .. Maybe the Mayan calender and Nostradamus are right.. Maybe the Christian’s are right..

What if the Arabs are right and after all this praying stuff, you find out you were praying to the wrong god.. Darn, more than a Sharon Plain to worry about, or if the Jews want to bring on the end times with Iran..
