Arnold’s excuse is the California State Legislature.
George W. and the guy who can’t shoot as well as Sarah Palin – plan on “helping out”, probably in Texas. I guess they plan on a lot of brush-cutting. I wouldn’t stand next to either of them holding a chainsaw.
John McCain announced everything is cut back for Monday.
Of course, it took 5 minutes of political spiel to get through to…”It’s in the hands of God.”
Update: If you’re waiting with bated breath for the details, they’re here.
All the pols are getting out while the getting’s good.
After the dead-cat bounce in interest in McBush, the smart money is bailing out as fast as possible.
Gustav provides a convenient excuse, and there’s always that nation-wide need to have brush cleared from Dumbya’s property. That guy must have the hardiest brush on earth. No matter how often it’s cleared, it always needs clearing.
Watching folks discuss this onscreen, right now – my favorite chuckle is ad agencies arguing with McBush’s campaign mgr, Rick Davis – because he’s trying to pull adverts scheduled during the convention and get the money back.

Michael Moore has been put in charge of hurricane preparation (no kidding)

#3. Fo’ sho!
It gives Palin an extra day to cram for the exam.
Did God answer the prayers of James Dobson?

Get it right. The guy can shoot.
Unfortunately he needs his hunting lisence revoked for shooting people out of season.
It looks like our fearless leaders in both parties have their acts together when it comes to this crises. They are certainly a lot more on the ball than last time.
Even if they do, this could easily be a mess on a large enough scale that a lot of people will suffer and they will get bad press.
Until there is evidence that the people in charge have in fact bleeped again I think people should keep their sewer covers in place.
My sister, her husband, one son, and a daughter and her boys are on the road to TN right now because their homes are in a direct line for ground zero.
Several thousand people are overloading Memphis and I don’t know how they are going to handle the influx but we’ve got to try.
Now is the time for all good people to stand up and be counted.
So this settles it — hurricanes really are an act of God! Gustav was sent in answer to McCain’s prayers for a convenient excuse to have George Bush (aka “the plague”) absent from the Republican convention. No one said that God is merciful in the way he chooses to answer prayer, so the old caveat still applies — be careful what you wish for.
Of course, I don’t mean to make light of the plight of the many thousands of evacuees, and what might happen to the homes they left behind. If only there were a god who could keep them all safe…
Let New Orleans be wasted. It’s a cesspool of crime and disease. They’re living on the gulf coast, in prime hurricane strike zone, below sea level. Just give it up. Let the ocean take back the basin. It’s not worth the time or money trying to protect it anymore.
Karma’s a Bitch: Wacko Christians pray to rain out Obama, God sends hurricane against the GOP!
WHY DID THIS EXCITING TOPIC GET DELETED???
Hey, it’s gonna be a disaster on the Gulf coast and they didn’t want to try to upstage the traditional Moronicratic Party Superdome festivities.
So St. Paul is in the path of Gustov? Wow, that’s one big hurricane. It just seems like admitting that they aren’t even going to really try to win the election by cutting back like this.
Looks like McCain is getting in a nap with that picture. It’s not a slam dunk yet, pops.
The RNC attendees are happy that the convention has been restricted on Mon. It gives them more time to party. Sadly I didn’t charge up my iPhone or I could have shared a number of photos of stalwart GOP member’s partying up in my neighborhood because, as they loudly shared with all of us, they don’t have anything to do tomorrow. Although they seemed very concerned that the hurricane will take away from their TV coverage. What a**hats.
Politicians and fame-seekers of all stripes will have to walk a fine line over the next week: they won’t want to be seen as not caring, but on the other hand, they don’t want to be seen as pontificating without helping. It will be interesting to see who can actually make a difference.
kudos on the picture
