Fathom :: The Source for Online Learning — I stumbled across this site while doing some research recently. It is one of the finest sites for various virtual courses, seminars and fun learning online. Definitely a great resource for home schoolers and also great for quickie seminars on all sorts of things from ancient history to terrorism and everything in-between.

This archive, provided by Columbia University, offers access to the complete range of free content developed for Fathom by its member institutions. Columbia encourages you to browse this archive of online learning resources, including lectures, articles, interviews, exhibits and free seminars. You can find additional online resources from Columbia University at ci.columbia.edu or cero.columbia.edu and from the members of the Fathom consortium at their own websites.

With the ever increasing costs of anything educational, this is a godsend. I was beginning to think this country couldn’t become more shallow. Now, at least on my good days, there is a sliver of light on the horizon to make me optimistic. I hope that this morphs into Free Educational Foundation taking some cues from the Free Software Foundation.
