The Mayor of Trainer, Pennsylvania has a very understanding constituency. Since 1988, Eugene Maysky, 52, has been arrested for DUI three times. Two arrests occurred while he was in office as Mayor. Maysky has yet to learn his lesson, but I hope the voters finally become fed up with his antics.
Police stopped Maysky in the early hours of last Friday because he was driving without his headlights illuminated. The officers commented that Maysky was drunk and arrested him for his fourth DUI. Some residents of Trainer are suggesting he step down from his post of 20 years. However, his fellow city politicians have all agreed not to speak publicly about Maysky’s brush with the law. Outstanding. (via Wash. State DUI blog)
Action News tried to find Mayor Maysky at his home, but the person who answered the door said he was not home and asked for privacy, saying “everybody makes mistakes.”
Trainer is a small town of 2,000 where people watch out for each other.
Borough Councilwoman Shannon Herbert says council members have signed an agreement not to talk to the media.
Action News has learned that borough council will meet in special executive session Monday night to discuss the mayor’s situation, but the doors will be closed to the public.
How many DUI’s is too many? 1, 2, 4, 5? No such thing as too many, party on dudes?
They had to find a job for the village idiot.
1. 4 in 20 years??
I know some that had 4 in 1 year, and STILL drive. Massive insurance bills.
2. IF he does the job, KEEP him in the JOB.
3. Drinking ON THE JOB?? That would be a FIRING offense.
ECA, you’ve restored my faith in our readers! After my last post and seeing so many comments from people saying it was wrong (wrong?!) for a dude to chat up 15 year olds for sex I was thinking y’all turned soft, but here you come along and defend multiple DUI’s. That’s the spirit! Drink up boys, get behind the wheel, and go nuts. If people don’t like it, they can just stay off the roads. (yeah, that was sarcasm you were sensing there)
How about some JAIL TIME?!!
1 is too many especially when it’s the Mayor risking the lives of his constituents.
My kind of Mayor.
I’d put my money on him to get the car home.
He’s so good at it. He can drive at night without lights.
It’s not like he got the town in some bogus war and was responsible for thousands of dead.
If the towns people still want him as Mayor, then that is the town’s choice.
Having said that however, as his fourth offense I would think a suitable sentence would be in order.
Such as 5 years probation with random drug / alcohol testing.
Suspend his license for a few years, maybe 10 or more.
And I would also add maybe six months of jail time, to served on weekends. (So he can keep his day job)
Drinking and driving is not a laughing matter. But I did like the ML’s #1 post.
It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt.
yes I will defend him..
do you know how easy it is to BLOW a Alcohol test?
And as I said..I STILL see people that have had 4 DUI in a year, STILL driving.
4 in 20 years, ISNT THAT BAD.
I know people that get 1 every New Years..
If you know about VERY VERY SMALL towns..the cops know ALL the drunks..PERSONALLY.
The only way to end DUI Offences is to CRACK DOWN !!!

Am I one of the last people in America who thinks it really doesn’t matter what a Politician does in his or her off-time, as long as when they deal with legislation, which, you know, is their job, they put their constituencies best interest first? I’d rather have a guy who drinks too much, hangs out with 18 year old hookers, snorts cocaine, and throws swingers parties in the Governor’s Mansion at the helm, than some guy who goes to church every Sunday, never even looks at any woman other than his wife, is a teetotaler, and is in the pocket of every corporate lobbyist in the State. But maybe that’s just me, I dunno.
All this directed at my friend ECA’s Comment:
“do you know how easy it is to BLOW a Alcohol test?”
Yep, ask anyone in my family (I’ll give you directions to the jail and/or cemetery -you can use a Ouji board to reach the dead folk).
“I know people that get 1 every New Years..”
And I know convicted drunks, murderers and thieves. Are we playing who knows the most unsavory characters, cause I’ll win -what’s the prize?
“If you know about VERY VERY SMALL towns..the cops know ALL the drunks..PERSONALLY.”
The town I am from is 124 blocks long. Again…. so?!
How does any of this justify drunk driving?
Alcohol is legal. How hard it is to get drunk in the bar or at home and have one of your pals drive if you have to go somewhere? Not so freakin’ hard.
To address some of the other comments, I also think that what you do in your own time should not effect your job, but there are limits. Your hobby is stepping out on the mrs, ok, your business. Your hobby is rape? Maybe we gotta talk to the DA. DUI is something the law has to be involved in. It doesn’t fall under the scope of “hey, this is my private time.”
Drastically reduce alcohol related driving offenses. Easy!
1: ALL liquor stores are now like Dominos – They DELIVER. Order by phone or internet.
2: NO COLD beer & wine in grocery or convenience stores. Room temperature ONLY.
3: Bars and Nightclubs can have only enough parking for employees only! Customers have to take cabs, the bars could have a courtesy van, or patrons could walk if it’s a neighborhood watering hole. NO customer parking!
But it won’t work! Lawyers, courts and cops will be TOTALLY AGAINST IT!! No more DUI money.
check out the town map. this guy should have been able to crawl home.
Gibson was described by the arresting officer James Mee as cooperative until arrested, at which point he became belligerent and experienced mood swings. While handcuffed in the car, Gibson made anti-Semitic remarks to Mee, who is Jewish.
