XENIA — Restaurants typically post the rule “Employees must wash hands before returning to work” but this is taking it too far.

A video posted on Myspace.com shows an employee of the Burger King in Xenia taking a bath in a kitchen sink as other employees look on or continue working.

“It’s my birthday and I’m taking a bath in the sink at Burger King,” the laughing worker tells the camera. “Somebody bring me a beer!”

Greene County Health Commissioner Mark McDonnell is not amused.

“It’s a sophomoric, childish stunt,” McDonnell said Tuesday, Aug. 12. “The biggest problem we had with it was the potential for food equipment contamination.”

Hey you kids, get out of my sink!

UPDATE:

All of the employees involved were fired. Burger King’s corporate office released the following statement:

“Burger King Corp. was just notified of this incident and is cooperating fully with the health department. We have sanitized the sink and have disposed of all other kitchen tools and utensils that were used during the incident. We have also taken appropriate corrective action on the employees that were involved in this video. Additionally, the remaining staff at this restaurant is being retrained in health and sanitation procedures.”

Unless the manager was there or didn’t care until the health inspector was involved I see no reason they should be fired. Reading the whole article it seems they actually took care of everything BEFORE the health inspector was contacted.

It’s Burger King, you’re not going to get college graduates or anything for employees. Hell, probably not too many high school graduates apply either.

[If you had watched the whole video, you would have seen that the manager knew he was in the sink and didn’t seem to care. – ed.]

  13. Oil Of Dog says:

    PS

You don’t know if that person identified as “Miss Karen” is “the” manager. This is a third shift crew and that is likely to be a shift supervisor. I’d be willing to bet she was fired too.

  18. lou says:

    Nice dew Wheaty.

  19. Rusty Shackleford says:

I thought their fries were a little limp.

  20. Mr. Fusion says:

The guy bathed. That means he got clean. Lots of soap too. So why the eff is the Health Department “not amused”?

You pay minimum wage, you get minimum standards.

The old saying “Pay peanuts, get monkey” comes to mind… 😉

  22. billybob says:

What’s buckwheat doing in the sink again?

    Darn it.

  23. Sheesh. You hire a guy who looks like that, with the hair and the tats, you should know exactly what you’re getting.

And what IS up with that milk in the sink??

  24. MotaMan says:

Now he can be in his punk band full time.

  25. Gary, the dangerous infidel says:

I wonder if bathing in a Burger King sink goes on your permanent record, like all the bad stuff we did in school.

  26. Gremlinclr says:

If you’ve never worked in fast food you have no idea some of the stuff that goes on there. After working at McD’s for 3 years in high school I don’t eat fast food much anymore.

  27. sury says:

how to run a nice clean resturant, ofcourse with very clean employee.and just to make sure your employee is clean and sanitized,to sand them in bath right before your eyes; nice job BK.all the other fast food should join the club.lets all clean up.
