This may just be my syustem but I’ve had some odd crashes since installing Netscape 8.0 — this includes memory allocation errors requiring a shutdown and a conflict with Blinkx requiring de-installing Blinbkx. But more disconcerting are anomalies encountered with Firefox including Javascript no longer working correctly. I’d be interested in hearing any other reports. It could be something else, and Netscape works fine on another machine not running Firefox or Blinkx.

I’d never install Netscape, it is just a corporatized version of Mozilla. Netscape comes free with unwanted advertising and hassles. If you want Netscape without that stuff, just get Mozilla.

I tried the new Netscape 8.0 out and it is really slow so I went back to Mozilla Firefox.
When I first started going online I found Netscape to be the boss when it came to browsing and I do still use Netscape Communicator 4.8 to compose my websites. Their composer has a little something that other html creators do not have and I love that feature.
Firefox for me is the fastest of the browser

I’m not taking the time to track it down for this post [I have enough commitments, this morning, to turn my semi-retired-old-fart-part-time-gig into full-time!]. but, somewhere out there is an article from the chief designer for Firefox calling the Netscape folks meatheads for what they’ve managed to do to the core work he provided.

I uninstalled Netscape to install Netscape 8 but after re-installing the program – I now get an error “The program must close to allow a previous installation attempt to complete. Please restart.” Yet, there is no other program being installed? Does anyone know why I would be receiving this error and how to fix it?

I’m getting the same error message, after running and closing a fresh install. Any ideas, I like the RSS reader in 8.1
