Repubblica.it/Galleria : I corpi di Tunick invadono Bruges: — I have no idea what is going on here but I thought that this sort of thing only happened in Berkeley. But here in Italy apparently people are roaming around naked for some reason or other. Perhaps a reader from Italy can explain!

There’s a crazy photographer that’s made a career out of taking photos of huge crowds of naked people. He’s been all over the world, even here in Portugal once, one or two years ago – it even made the news!
There’s even a joke ad from Australia – a guy on a bike has to park the bike somewhere when he sees this crowd all getting naked and lying down on the ground for the photographer. So he just sticks it up someone’s backside 😀 and says ‘thanks mate’ with his deep Aussie accent 🙂
Bruges may have been called the Venice of the North some times, but it is in Belgium.
Oh, and photographer Spencer Tunick has pulles these stunts in lots of countries already:
http://www.spencertunick.com/
This is Google’s (machine) translation:
Approximately seven hundred persons completely knots, before in road and then to the inside of the Stadsschouwburg Theatre: the new set for the installations of Spencer Tunick is the Belgian city of Bruges. The artist-photographer works on the idea of bodies that, denudati, forgiveness their characteristics in order to acquire those of shapes separated in a metropolitan landscape. Arrested five times to New York when he was mayor Rudoplh Giuliani, Tunick has worked also in Navona public square, to Rome, always with the same subjects.
You know how bad these machine translations are, so go check
http://www.spencertunick.com/
and find out that this guy gets lots of naked people together – that’s the art – and then takes pictures of the event.
You should sign up. Check out his sight.
“–“
I checked out the site – it reminded me of how his photos remind me of those horrible pictures of piles of bodies in concentration camps in WW2… I once even ‘joked’ that some of his photos seemed to be of crowds that had been gassed in downtown… 😛 I fail to see the ‘art’, but who am I to argue… It really sounds just tongue in cheek, that’s all…
Whatever turns your crank. For me, I don’t get it.
If the Devine Creator didn’t want us to wear clothes, he would have made it 75-80 deg temperature year round. With no UV radiation. And similar temperature rainwater.
It goes to show you that most people should keep their clothes on.
The Translation of the text for the curious ones, interesting hm …
About seven hundred entirely nude persons, first in road and then to the inside of the Stadsschouwburg Theatre: is the Belgian town of Bruges the new set for the installations of Spencer Tunick. L’ artist-photographer works on the idea of bodies that, stripped, lose their feature to acquire those of abstract shapes in an urban landscape. Arrested five times to New York when was mayor Rudoplh Giuliani, Tunick has working also in square Navona, in Rome, always with the same subjects.
