Cutting-edge, ’supplemental science’ comes to Louisiana
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal has signed legislation allowing public school teachers to use “supplemental materials” in class when teaching about evolution. This is necessary, the new laws says, to promote “academic freedom.” After all, everyone knows evolution is “controversial.”
What will these “supplemental materials” be like? It’s hard to say because the law does not describe them. It does state, however, that these materials are not supposed to promote religion. This was thrown in as a sop to pinkos, rabble-rousers and other malcontents who actually believe the Constitution should be obeyed even in Louisiana.
Of course you want examples:
1. DVDs of “Flintstones” reruns. Kids can learn a lot from these. For example, they show how humans and dinosaurs not only lived together back in the day but also demonstrate early man’s ability to harness the power of dinosaurs to improve his own life. Fred Flinstone’s job at the rock quarry is a good example. Dinosaurs there helped him lift and smash rocks for the betterment of all.
2. “Land of the Lost” episodes. Not everyone is comfortable using “Flintstones” reruns in class. Let’s face it, the closing theme songs does promise that “when you’re with the Flintstones…you’ll have a gay old time,” and Fred and Barney did seem awfully close in some episodes. For these folks, “Land of the Lost” is the perfect in-class supplement. This series teaches important science lessons. For example, did you know that you can use a giant log to swat dinosaurs and that there are many ways to outwit bizarre, bipedal lizard men?

4. “Evolution, Schmevolution” by the staff of the Discovery Institute.
You just can’t make this crap up.

I remember my little kid after watching the Flinstones, asking me if it was true that people rode on dinosaurs. I said “No, its just a cartoon son”. Now I’m going to have to tell him daddy was wrong?… because the schools say so.
This also got me thinking. Is the history we were all taught the real history or just the version taught by who ever is in power and running the world now? There are numerous examples of this even now with people throughout the world giving their versions of events.

What we call history is an event’s facts filtered through the perception of the winner who is now in power. It rarely presents the loser’s side accurately.
will this also teach the kids that there were no races, other than white, when dinosaurs were around….???….
I’m starting to think that this may be a good thing. It really shows the depth of “young earth creation science”.

I remember a quote very similar to that from years ago. Is it possible you may have inadvertantly paraphrased some original quote?

wow… this will surely give Louisiana the edge in future National Science Fairs. The rest of those evolution believ’in liberals may as well just give up now…
History (Herstory?) is written by everybody for their various purposes. What everybody in one generation accepts as true is supplanted by following generations.
My favorite recent example: Christopher Columbus. Another is about 10 years ago re the attempted installation of the Enola Gay at the Smithsonian. Veterans objected to the “deconstructed history” telling the tale of Truman’s unnecessary and cruel bombing of Tokyo. Won’t be long now before all those caring veterans will die off and the Smithsonian can have its way.

In a few years when these Louisiana graduates try to get jobs they’ll find many a roadblock. “Come back when you have a real education.” I wonder if Jindal secretly hates his own constituents because any rational person would not put so many people at risk.
The Flintstones are nearly as good of a documentary as the movie “Caveman”.
