Admittedly, the new iPhone allows faster browsing for the cost plus GPS, but there’s a bit of smoke and mirrors here (as any good Apple presentation should have). According to Gizmodo who put all the numbers together, if you add in the costs of services not included with the $199 3G model over what you get with the regular $399 iPhone over a two year contract, the cheaper is more expensive. And then there are the other vender’s 3G phones.
BTW, have you seen Kathy Griffin’s ex, the other Steve, jailbreak her iPhone?
Yeah, but they’ll make it up in lack of volume.
According to that chart it’s still cheaper than the other phones on the list except for the Mogul that is only $20 cheaper.

FUD. The 3G iphone plan now costs the same as AT&T’s other data plans. Its still a good deal, as they could have raised the data plan rate and charged $400 for the phone. Its not like people wouldn’t have bought the device.
I don’t understand why they are taking the service cost and saying that it makes the phone more expensive. If anything, it makes it cheaper.
We have t face the facts. a) the telcos control plan pricing and b) we’re going to pay for the plans no matter how much we whine about getting ripped off.
I know that we have to pay for the plan in the end but it’s not like we’re paying back a loan, we’re also getting vitally needed cell service. On the other hand imagine what would happen if the telcos didn’t subsidize the cost of the phone. We’d be seriously fucked and we probably wouldn’t be able to upgrade as often.
So shut the fuck up already and enjoy the subsidized 3G goodness.
I need a phone. And with it a camera.

Love the iphone or hate it I know my Apple stock will be climbing again.
The gps will do navigation as soon as someone gives steve a big pile of cash and a long term contract. My guess is just before christmas.
