Can you imagine sitting in jail next to psycho murderers, rapists and politicians and having to explain why you’re there? On the other hand, they’d be laughing so hard they’d probably leave your lily white ass alone.
When Rock Hill school officials tell commencement crowds to hold their applause until the end, they mean it — police arrested seven people after they were accused of loud cheering during the ceremonies.
Six people at Fort Mill High School’s graduation were charged Saturday and a seventh at the graduation for York Comprehensive High School was charged Friday with disorderly conduct, authorities said. Police said the seven yelled after students’ names were called.
“I just thought they were going to escort me out,” Jonathan Orr told The Herald of Rock Hill, about 70 miles north of Columbia. “I had no idea they were going to put handcuffs on me and take me to jail.”

Yea, I think the school is wrong for lack of specificity. Big difference in:
Please Hold Your Applause Until the End or we will:
1. Think you are boorish
2. Eject you from the ceremony
3. Have you arrested.
Case should be thrown out for vagueness and therefor lack of notice and lack of intent.

Instead of watching cattle stand and wait to have their number called they may have learned a thing or two while in the clink.

The indications are that the people verbally whooped for their friends / relatives. There was nothing to suggest they were outlandish or boisterous.
Me? I’d ask for a jury trial. I doubt the prosecutor would continue with the charge after factoring in the cost and publicity.

Of course the kids at Galesburg (Last years incident) got their diplomas. But how do you un-arrest someone?. Perhaps their should be some penalty for the city, state, and in this case, the school district, for abusing police power.
It *seems* these abuses are getting more and more, rather than less and less. Someone should do some research and determine if it is just the ability to communicate, or of these abuses are actually increasing. For example, while child abductions are WAY down from the 60s and 70s, yet, todays parents (including me) are over protective of their kids, and paranoid.
I really like the fact that the home page of the High school’s website is pushing “Chorus bricks” LOL
#10: Brilliant! We should all buy bricks in honor of those arrested. Create a wall of them so the administrators can never forget what they did.
So whatever happened to moderators or MCs able to handle a audience? Since when did audience handling become police control? Suddenly anything slightly out of someone’s comfort zone (and why would this be out of a comfort zone?) becomes a police matter?
And why would any police, including rent-a-real-cop cops, even go along with it? Don’t they have any real police work? I guess Barney’s one bullet in his shirt pocket has expanded and blown up in everyone’s faces.

Wow, I can’t believe this. What a waste of police time. I think I’d start a campaign to oust the school board then a-hole that decided to tell the police to do that.
My daughter’s school had kids arrested last year for a food fight. The valedictorian lost his status and they didn’t let the kids attend their own graduation. The kids were arrested and charged with assault.
Charges were later dropped.
