Covers more than an acceptable bikini

Madison High teen handcuffed for wearing skimpy prom dress | TOP STORIES | KHOU.com | News for Houston, Texas — This is now gone from stupid to ridiculous to Police State.

Marche Taylor’s prom night experience wasn’t what you would call the norm.

That’s because instead of a night of dancing and hanging out with friends, the Madison High School senior ended in a confrontation with school officials and her being escorted out in handcuffs. All because school officials said her dress was inappropriate for the school prom.

She looks awesome in the dress; look at her walk in it in the video. She had it custom designed, she looks like a warrior princess, and it’s covering more than a lot of those ladies at the Oscars.

Sure, it’s skimpy, but why is everyone being arrested anymore, even if not charged or booked, as in this case? How much money does that cost, involving law enforcement in every wardrobe malfunction?

I’d guess it’s costing quite a lot. And what good does it do, really?

  2. Michael says:

    #29 “That equals arrest.”

Nope, sorry. That’s called being detained. You’re not under arrest unless you’re mirandized. Again..educate yourself please.

Marche is a high school teen, and it is a school function, and under school supervision. I understand the young lady, but the dress looks like a Night Club dress turned into a Prom Dress. I think she looked good in it and obviously has the figure to wear it well, but this was a school event and school officials have the last word. I don’t think her belly showing was the problem, I think it was her belly showing plus her breast being so easily seen. This was not “Marche’s Prom”, this was The High School Prom. …I still wish her all the best.

I am somebody’s mama… make that two somebodies, both girls, one 14, the other 19 and I am relatively young, only 20 years older than my oldest and this is deplorable. Mostly because the adults in her home life thought the dress was ok , when all that dress said was she would most certainly be “bent over” before prom was over. My mom would’ve have died first (literally) if anyone in my house had so much as walked from our bedroom to the bathroom in a getup like this. FORGET ABOUT TAKING OUR STREETS BACK, CAN WE TAKE OUR KIDS BACK??????????????????????

“Covers more than an acceptable bikini”

    Are you insane?

A prom is neither a swimming pool or runway fashion show. The dress shows lack of judgment and taste.

The fact that a simple “no” was not sufficient to get her to leave and the situation escalated into an arrest shows further lack of judgment and maturity. She had a clear choice, leave or get arrested. She chose arrest. How the hell does that equate to a “police state”?

This is why young girls get raped!! dressing like this!!! Just where was this girls Mother? And how could she be allowed to leave the house looking naked. Does this girl have no morals, or was she just asking for what she got? I think the school did right by not letting her in. Thank God someone had some sense of what is right and wrong.

OMG!!! What was she thinking and why didn’t her parents stop her??? It’s appears she was looking for attention and by wearing that dress she got it. Look at everyone talking about her, guess she is trying to make a name for herself. Can you tell us what street corner she works on? Bet business will pick up after she showed the world what she has.
Here’s a teen pregancy just looking to happen!!!
Not much of anything to stop a boy from getting what he wants from this one. Trash! Ho!!

  9. Ken says:

PARENTS–If you let your daughter dress like this for prom, YOU are worthless!

Not to mention, but that Hoochie has a tounge stud too!! Please dont have kids if you do not have a solid plan for their education and upbringing….this is a tradgedy!!

  10. pucklver says:

Appropriate dress to swing around a pole and collect $$ from random patrons willing to tip for said swinging.

Not so appropriate for a school event, however. How anyone, including the student, thought that this was okay for the prom needs to have their head examined.

And if she were to be admitted if she covered up would have meant at least one chaperone watching her, and her alone, to ensure everything stays coverend. Seems a bit senseless and selfish to me.

She could have easily went home and changed if she wanted to attend her prom that badly. (Her parents must be so proud)

  11. badreport says:

Errr, no, she wasn’t handcuffed because “school officials said her dress was inappropriate for the school prom,” and she says as much in her news interview.

She was told her dress violated a school dress code. She was told she wasn’t getting in because she “had no undergarments on.”

And how did Ms. Taylor deal with being told EXACTLY WHY she wasn’t getting into the prom? “We”re arguing back and forth because I don’t know why I can’t get into my prom.” “I told her… what’s her problem…” She said she was furious and arguing and demanding her money back. So this was about a student who was handcuffed and walked out because she furiously, angrily, pretended she didn’t understand what was explained to her, demanded the rules be changed immediately to suit her, held up everyone else getting into the prom, made a loud scene and disrupted the festivities, smack talked school officials, and refused to leave.

Yeah, that’s what I did when a teacher or admnistrator spoke to me in school, I said, “Hey, what’s your problem?” NOT.

There are lots of overreactions by school officials. Going by the information available, this doesn’t seem to be one of them.

  12. Jenjamin says:

It’s just so sad that we tell young women to have a positive body image, and then, reinforce old stereotypes (“she was asking for it – did you see what she was wearing?”) when a young woman is pleased with her body. Was her dress in poor taste? Well… maybe. However, handcuffs? Is that necessary? They’re not the fashion police! They are real police officers handcuffing a minor and escorting a minor away on prom night. And because she requested her money back after she was denied entrance? That certainly seems like a reasonable request. Good luck to Marche.

  13. Anonymous says:

She has the body for it but it was poor taste and it says a lot about herself and her parents/parent letting her leave the home with this dress, the tattoo and she isnt even 18.

Modesty is the word that remains to be seen. You can be attractive, sexy, classy and modest. She could even had a dress that had her stomach out but covered more of her body……..

Yeah people……this is prom not the strip club or the club…………

Wish her the best! some nasty night club dude probably already came or will come looking for her to dance in his club then take all her money…..

  14. new_bonnie says:

After reading all the remarks on this issue; the bottom line is that this young lady has a body and she wanted to show it off to the world. If it was true that she had no panties on under her mini skirt that will make her down right nasty.

Now she has ended up on the internet/local news being called a whore or look down upon by many. Next look for her in the upcoming emails of those horrid prom pictures that will be circulated around the world being laughed at.

What happen to “Prom Night” where you get deck out in evening gowns and tuxedos. Now a days these kids look like they are attending or performing in the circus with these homemade garmets they call “hot”. Bull crap! I hate to say it but this is a blueprint her future and what she thinks is acceptable in society.

Where are the parents? You can say what you say, but you are who you are…..GHETTO!!!!

  15. SmileyfaceMama says:

I am a 27yr old female and could never fathom going to the prom dressed like that. There is a time and place for everything. Inquiring about her money at that moment was completely understandable, however, I’m certain it was nothing that could be done at that particular moment about instant cash refund. Kids today have no respect for elders nor law. Parents want to criticize everything the schools do or don’t do with their children but yet at the same time, don’t take the time with their children they should. Then you hear some parents talk about how they are scared of their children….YOU ARE STILL THE ADULT. Another thing is that how can you “discipline” your children now days at an early age and not have to worry about Social Services getting involved? As far as comment #20 goes, how can you even compare her to women you met in a bar and talk about being laid? SHES A MINOR FOR GOD SAKES!!! I agree with a lot of what other was saying about how she could have went about it more classy….DRESS WISE AND ATTITUDE WISE.

  16. progress89 says:

Where are the parents?? Where is the self-respect?

  17. A mother says:

I believe the dress is in very poor taste and as a mother of two girls, I would not have approved of either of them leaving my house dressed like a common whore. She may be a very sweet and respectable young woman—but that dress says ‘ I.m hot and ready to be laid. Come and get it’ I would not have allowed eitehr of my daughters to leave my house dresses that way. When she was told to leave she should have done so.

  18. Concerned Educator says:

I teach at the school. This topic has been a hot topic. But this student does not have very much direction, yet academically is very smart. Today’s students have little common sense and do not respect adults that provided them with options able dresses before purchase. She just assumed like many teenages today that they will get their way. Sad! I just hope she learns from this situation, because now whatever job google searches her name more then 20 pages of the bad choice will appear and finding the job she desires will become an issue.

Student’s today only think day-by-day and not long-term. I am just glad she turned down Dr. Phil who would have eaten her alive.

  19. Dude says:

    This is disgusting!!

  20. Seems like prom dresses are becoming more and more skimpy.  My opinion is if there’s a dress code in place, you have to enforce it. I’m not sure why she wasn’t allowed entry when she volunteered to cover up though.

  21. Mead6245 says:

What were they doing? I can’t bear this.
