People should throw away cantaloupes from a Honduran manufacturer believed to be linked to a salmonella outbreak.
The Food and Drug Administration issued the alert Saturday for melons from Agropecuaria Montelibano. Grocers are advised to remove from their stock any cantaloupes from this company. People should check with stores to see whether recently purchased cantaloupes came from Honduras.
So far, 50 people have become sickened in 16 states and nine have become ill in Canada after eating the cantaloupes. No deaths have been reported, although 14 people have been hospitalized, the FDA said…
The 16 states that have reported illnesses are Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.
If you’re paying attention, this has nothing to do with the outbreak in Alamosa, Colorado. The culprit there appears to be a good old-fashioned well-based water system – that needs a good cleaning.
What’s the deal are people licking the outside on their cantaloupes?
It’s as I’ve long suspected. Dvorak readers don’t eat fruit and vegetables. Just fast food-burgers. Excepting the vampyres, of course.
You can’t clean the water system they’re using to irrigate crops like these. In many cases it’s an open ditch that they’re pumping the water out of.
An open ditch that gets run off into it from where the field hands relieve themselves while out in the same fields. You silly people really believe there’s port-a-potties in these third world places? Throughly wash ANY skinned fruit with a freaking detergent (dish soap works) and rinse well before eating it raw. Leafy stuff like cabbage, lettuce, broccoli, etc. you should cook well or grow it yourself if you plan on eating it raw. No joke folks.
