Inquirer – March 7, 2008:

TWICE AS MANY Brits charge their mobiles before going to sleep as say their prayers, revels a shocking new study.

The Sleep Council polled 1,400 people across the UK and found that hardly any of them go to bed at the same time – or even in the same room – as their partners because they’re playing with electronic gizmos such as phones, computers and electric toothbrushes.

And before people crash out, charging up electrical appliances (22 percent) has taken over from prayers (10 percent) as part of the bedtime routine. One in three make phone calls and sends or receives text or emails in bed. A further one in five keeps busy checking up on social networking sites, playing a computer game or listening to MP3 players.

Perhaps its because they KNOW their mobiles will be charged in the morning.

Its a 50/50 chance the prayer will be answered.

It of course doesn’t help their situation any when they treat their deities like candy vending machines.

I charge my cellphone every other night so that it is charged in the morning. My partner and I charge each other’s iPod just before we go to sleep but discharges rather quick.

    “Shocking”? Why is this shocking?

  4. bobbo says:

If prayer were .0005 % effective, I’d have to consider becoming religious.

    Why is this study shocking?

You can pray for god to charge your ipod for you, but that would be as helpful as praying for god to bring back your kidnapped 1 year old baby who was taken while you were shopping 2 months ago.

  6. MikeN says:

All these chargers use plenty of energy, with adapters that switch from AC to DC. where are all the global warming crows calling for bans or regulations?

  7. JimR says:

    Guilty as charged!

  8. Erik Blazynski says:

finally the human race is evolving and eschewing that which is ridiculous.

  9. RASTERMAN says:

Does it count if I’m praying that the charger doesn’t catch fire?

    Cheers!

I’m just glad that Dvorak keeps posting that hot brazilian model holding the ipod.
