John, You spy on us with those damn 3rd party polls in the side bar. 8D OK, spy is a strong term. You help aggregate data about us, at the least, for third parties, or more entities.

With all the Ad focused monetization models out there for the quick % of a buck as short term gains for site owners, I can only wonder at the potential long term losses of privacy and liberty via behavioral data collection connected to keyword information connected to IP addresses.

You know you are soaking in it too. I mean why download and watch HBO reruns when I can watch all of you and make money off your Pavlovian training session cookies.

No, really how are those polls working out? I know you could run your own polls in WordPress if you wanted, but What do you do with just your data? And selling the result data, that could actually be work. 🙂 I want to see some really crank numbers and statistical crazy bumps to make my brain itch.

Oh wait all the stories are filed under General. Never Mind.

IBM won’t open OS/2? Why the heck not? It’s not like they are doing anything with it. That does it. I’m calling Stallman.

  3. Sorry to post here but I am having a hard time finding where to post….. Where can I submit stories for consideration for use in the Blog?

I doubt if they really care one way or the other, but it has too many technologies in it which are patented by and licensed from other companies, including MS. Bill Gates would rather see his Ma in a whorehouse than have OS/2 go open source.

It was by far MY favorite OS. I have a whole shelf covered by OS/2 boxes spanning its lifespan. (No ecomstation versions, though.)

It’s a sad thing, I would have LOVED to see an open source OS/2 capable of running XP software as smoothly as the now defunct Windows UE.

  6. Esteban says:

Regarding the Blu-Ray/HD-DVD battle, I think people have just gotten sick of it and picked a winner at random. It’s a lot like the end of World War I where everyone just got tired of the stalemate, and blamed everything on Germany.
