VOA News – Venezuelan President Accuses US of Plotting to Assassinate Him
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has repeated a claim that the United States is plotting to assassinate him.
He made the statement without elaborating Saturday in New Delhi. Washington has previously dismissed the allegation as ridiculous and false.
President Chavez also said world oil prices will remain between $40 and $50 a barrel and that the market will never have prices as low as $10 a barrel again.
The Venezuelan leader is on the second day of a four-day visit to India.
Chavez is starting to sound a lot like Fidel Castro. All he has to do is look over at Fidel who’s been in power 45 years. On the other hand, Fidel only has sugar and cigars. The U.S. gets a lot more testy when it comes to oil. Maybe Chavez should compare his situation more to Saddam and start looking over his shoulder after all?
Silly South American President! Our government doesn’t lie or cheat or break the rules. Weapons of Mass Destruction? Sending so-called terrorists overseas where torture is considered a spectator sport? Saving the world from bad people…as long as there’s oil underneath their country? Subtly undermining basic civil rights in the name of security? Hmmm….now that I think about it, I’d go into hiding if I were him.
And unfortunatly that might be true. USA backed up the attempt to overthrow him a few years ago, and if wasn’t for South American and European countries he’d be cold dead by now.
That’s why people don’t trust when your president says he wants a “free world”, what he really wants is a bunch of puppets that’ll never say nay.
Chavez was ellected in a free and clean election and is only protecting the economic interests of his country. Nobody likes high oil prices, but Venezuela is a poor country and they need the money.
