Oswald watching at street level rather than shooting?

Yes it’s time for the ever popular, Name That Conspiracy! The ‘Was Oswald The Lone Shooter?’ category is a classic always at the ready for conspiracy hounds, serious researchers and anyone else who has some time to kill, so to speak. Funny thing is, this apparently is one item where the conspiracy nuts may have been right.

FBI Now Admits Evidence Used to Connect Oswald to Kennedy Assasination Was Bogus

The front page of the Sunday Washington Post features, “FBI Forensic Test Full of Holes.”
[…]
As early as 1991, the FBI conducted studies on the reliability of the “bullet-lead” analysis used to connect bullets found at the scene of a crime to bullets in the possession of a suspect. The studies found that lead composition of bullets in the same box didn’t always match, which should have been a sign that the test was completely unreliable. Further analysis discovered that bullets packaged 15 months apart in different areas of the country in different boxes, unexpectedly matched – a gap the forensic testing originally claimed had different bullet lead make-up.

Seems a lot of people in prison are there solely because of this faulty test. Thousands of them. And the test was cited as ‘proof’ the bullets taken from JFK matched ones Oswald had.

  1. flyingelvis says:

So, how does what the person was wearing in the picture above compare with what Oswald was wearing at the time of his arrest? Wasn’t he arrested on the same day as the shooting?

  2. Timbo says:

The other hot case mentioned was, “In the mid-1990s, Lundy used the science to help prove that Clinton White House lawyer Vincent W. Foster committed suicide, internal FBI documents show.”

It there any evidence left to support the theory of suicide?

  3. emeryjay says:

I think the FBI estimated the number of cases where copper and lead “DNA” was used was “several hundred”

  4. Mac Guy says:

Bear in mind that bullet lead analysis is only one of many different pieces of evidence in a trial. You CAN tell what kind of caliber the firearm was, as well as reasonably matching up the firearm to the bullet fired by the strike points on the primer and the grooves and lands that leave their imprint on a bullet.

I doubt we’ll be seeing massive conviction overturns anytime soon. A flurry of lawyer activit

  5. Mac Guy says:

…activity, for certain, but nothing alarming.

(sorry for the double-post – dealing with a damaged laptop here, and it submitted the posting a little too soon).

  6. James Hill says:

Then quit using that PC and go back to your Mac, Mac Guy! 🙂

  7. Thomas says:

If I remember correctly, they found fingerprints on the rifle which match Oswald’s.

The bullet-lead test was bogus but the number of cases where it was the deciding piece of evidence is fairly low I bet. Still, the FBI was negligent in not being forthright about this.

  8. hhopper says:

#1 – Here’s Oswald after being captured on the day of the shooting. Look like the same outfit?

    I think it could be.

  9. IamRBrooks says:

If I remember correctly, they found fingerprints on the rifle which match Oswald’s.

Actually, they didn’t. The first look at the rifle turned up no prints at all. Later, they claimed to have found a palm print but that was after LHO was dead and was in no condition to protest the use of his palms. (Not saying that the palm print was planted by the feds but I don’t rule it out.)

  10. Joe B says:

If Oswald is innocent, why did he murder police officer Tippet when he stopped him because he matched the description of the man seen running from the book depository. Oswald was found hiding in the movie theater with the gun that matched bullets that killed the policeman. There were also witnesses to the policeman shooting that said that Oswald was the one that killed him (Tippet.)

  11. Jezcoe says:

So an unaccredited photo of the Kennedy motorcade with a blurry guy who looks kind of like Oswald coupled with the admission that a type of evidence gathering is bogus means Kennedy wasn’t killed by Oswald. Yeah I’ll buy it. I will also bite on the other articles on the TruthAlliance site. “Is Aleister Crowley the Father of Barbara Bush?” and “Vans With Explosives Confirmed at the World Trade Center on September 11th” Oops sorry my senses came back to me.

  12. School Book Suppository says:

If you have ever visited Dallas and the window in question, you will quickly realize that there would be no way in hell a person could get off 3 rounds from a bolt action weapon with that kind of accuracy. Unless the limo was barely moving, which we know wasn’t the case.

  13. IamRBrooks says:

If Oswald is innocent, why did he murder police officer Tippet when he stopped him because he matched the description of the man seen running from the book depository.

Did someone say LHO was innocent? I guess it depends on what you mean by innocent, eh? Oswald said he was a patsy, as in he was “used” or “set up” to take the fall. That would lead me to believe that he had some possible foreknowledge of the events…but that when it came to being the man behind the gun(s), he was not the guy.

The last congressional investigation determined that at the least, LHO did not act alone.

  14. LDA says:

That is not Oswald. The photo is not unaccredited or fake. The person was identified. Owsald does not have to be innocent to not be the murderer (in the middle of the Cold War you don’t defect to the USSR and then change your mind and get welcomed back (to work in top secret U2 photo development labs) unless you are an agent.

There is another picture outside the TSBD building with a loitering George Bush (The old Shrub). Also look-up “Secret Service Stand Down” on YouTube to see something more incriminating.

Everyone doesn’t have to be “in on it”, most of the SS & Army members in America are good and patriotic (which you should take into account when sending them to die for you). That’s why you need pyramid hierarchical structures of control. So that even when people want to follow procedures it only takes their commanders to override protocol and an uninformed public to ignore it. Everything that can be used for good can also be used for bad (that is it’s not an “Evil Illuminate Pyramid control grid” it is just a valuable command and organizational hierarchy that can be used for whatever purpose the commander chooses.

People focus on the magician’s assistant (Oswald / the shots / timing etc.) and not the magician and that’s why they will never see what really happened. As with 9/11 the accused perpetrators can’t make the protective services act differently and against regulation or make the subsequent investigators concoct provably false statements and reports. They can however convince most people that the witnesses first hand knowledge is always wrong and that experts know better.

Follow the yellow (gold) brick road.

Those Demopublicans are really showing the Republicrats. $90 Billion more this week for the war they were elected to end, that’ll show ’em. The left wing and the right wing are both controlled by and belong to the middle (the bird).

I would suggest you leave JFK aside for a while and concentrate on saving your country. Bin Laden / Iran / Emmanuel Goldstein can’t destroy America, as Lincoln said it can only be destroyed from within.

P.S. Americans are still wonderful and brave they are just very manipulated. You still have friends and allies, you should try and identify them (the ones telling you what you don’t want to hear, like your girl/boyfriend is cheating on you) and listen to them more often.

There are FBI guys that have done it and I’ve seen demonstrations of people that are able to fire off three shots in six seconds and make two hits. Oswald was a Marine core sharpshooter. It would have been within his ability to make those shots.

  16. doug says:

y’all should read Bugliosi’s ‘Reclaiming History.’ He debunks all the JFK conspiracy crap pretty thoroughly. I hope he does the same job on the 9/11 ‘truthers’ next.

#13. like #16 said, marksmen at the depository not only managed to get off the requisite numbers of shots in the time alloted, but one of them actually bested Oswald (who qualified as a sharpshooter in the Marines) by hitting their target three times instead of two. the rifle Oswald used was the same model that the Italian Army Rifle Team used for precision shooting, not the piece of junk conspiracy theorists claimed it was.

#9. Oswald went home, changed his shirt, and got his revolver. He told that to the Dallas Cops.

  17. doug says:

oh, and one more thing, the Congressional committee on assassinations based their ‘two shooters’ conclusion (not unanimous and tacked on towards the end of the investigation into the 60s assassinations) on some acoustic evidence (a recording from a police motorcycle radio mic that was left open) that has since been discredited.

  18. The man on the front steps of the TSBD shown in the photograph was Billy Lovelady (yes, that’s his name), another employee of the book depository. The supposition that the photo shows Oswald was investigated by the Warren Commission, who interviewed Lovelady to acertain his whereabouts that afternoon.

  19. Chris says:

As one who actually lived through that horrific day, and studied it, I can tell you that it is too easy to lay it at the feet of Oswald, who was killed, probably so he would never stand trial and point the finger the other way.

My grandfather was a civil engineer who worked for the county and lived in Houston Texas. My family knows something about Texas politics. When they announced on the TV that Oswald had been captured and taken to the Dallas Jail, my grandmother said: “He’ll never get out of that jail alive.” That’s the way it was done and probably still is done down there.

Oswald was too good to be true. He had associations with the Communist party in the Soviet Union, and dealings with Cuba, leading many to speculate that he may have actually worked for the CIA. A better patsy could never be found.

As to why he shot officer Tippet, maybe it was out of guilt, or maybe he realized what was about to happen to him (the setup) and was trying to run for his life.

The rifle, by the way, in forensic tests, was found to have a mis adjusted sight, which would have made it very difficult to shoot at any target accurately, much less a MOVING target.

As to the Warren report, there is nothing wrong with the 26 volumes (other than the infamous transposed frames in the Zapruder film). It is the conclusion that leaves you baffled if you actually wade through the evidence. A single gunman? All the forensics pointed to more than one. My opinion, these guys spent all this money and time and could not bear to tell the public that they had no idea who really killed Kennedy, so it was easier to blame the dead man.

If you are really interested in the subject, try and find a book called “Six Seconds in Dallas” by Josiah Thompson. He analyzes all the evidence in the Warren report, and concludes that there HAD to be at least two gunmen, and there was a strong likelyhood there were three. (The third would have been on the roof of the building on the other side of the square, but that evidence is not as conclusive).

So who was behind it? We probably will never know, but the most interesting theory came from a British author (sorry I’m drawing a blank on his name) who said the Mafia did it in retaliation for Bobby Kennedy’s actions to prosecute the Mafia gangsters. I’m not sure I buy that, but it is an intriguing theory.

The government did it? You can’t be serious. Even if the government could have pulled off such an elaborate scheme, they never could have kept it secret this long.

What is sometimes lost in all the conspiracy bantering about, is that three assasinations in the space of 5 years, John Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr., completely changed the course of our history.
    Think about it.

    #20, Chris,

What is sometimes lost in all the conspiracy bantering about, is that three assasinations [sic] in the space of 5 years, …
    Think about it.

OK, I thought about it. So what is your point?

The JFK Conspiracy raised some very serious questions. Some later debunked. Some not. The most unfortunate part of the conspiracy theory is the resulting questioning and automatic conspiracy attached to any other epoch making death.

It took only a couple of years for the information on destroyed torture tapes to appear, even less for the Downing Street Memos to come out. In the past 45 years, why hasn’t someone involved come forward to say they know what happened to JFK? In the past six years, why hasn’t someone come forward to say they planted explosives inside the WTC at night. Why hasn’t someone come forward to say Foster wasn’t depressed and was killed to cover up the crime of Hillery’s missing nail polish?

  22. Mister Catshit says:

When a scientific basis for finding guilt is used, it should be based upon scientific rigor and proof. Not slap happy guesswork or wishful thinking. I disagree that there might be evidence that could also convict many of the same people this phony science was used for. The use of false evidence sworn to be true and accurate is quite capable of convincing people that other, less convincing evidence, suddenly fits into the scenario better.

The same situation has recently developed with fingerprints. Experts are increasingly being forbidden to say conclusively that fingerprint evidence is infallible. Not that fingerprints themselves aren’t unique. Rather that the science of gathering, copying, and matching the crime scene prints is too inexact.

Other situations occurred because eyewitness swore this was the person. There was at least one occasion where eyewitness testimony was later shown to be wrong as the person was found to be in a jail cell in another county. Another case of where one witness said it was the person even though a different witness said it wasn’t because she knew the accused personally and it wasn’t him.

  23. RBG says:

Oswald hitting the president from the book depository window can’t be any more miraculous than all the mystery shooters firing at Kennedy and managing to make all the bullet evidence look like it could have come from patsy Oswald.

“OK, I thought about it. So what is your point?”

John Kennedy, in a speech at American University a few months before he was murdered, indicated a shift in policy regarding the Viet Nam war. He previously had commented that he did not understand how he could have been so poorly advised about the Bay of Pigs. He was learning not to trust the military, and in particular, the top people in it. After his death, he was replaced by Lyndon Johnson, a war-mongering Texan (do you see an emerging pattern here?). Johnson later stepped aside, largely because he saw the popular tide rising against that Viet Nam policy. (I wish that our current president were half as honorable). Domestically, he was probably one of the greats, but no one remembers that.

Bobby Kennedy died while campaigning for the presidency against the “establishment” Democrat, Hubert Humphrey. Humphrey basically endorsed LBJ’s war policy. Bobby did not. Although it is hard to predict who would have won the primary had Bobby lived, the whole process was turned upside down by that murder. Bobby was very charismatic (although not as much as John) and stood a very good chance of becoming president.

As to Martin Luther King Jr., the African-American community lost the best leader they ever had. His work was not finished. In his absence the movement became chaotic and disorganzed.

In a democracy, ballots are supposed to decide who leads, not bullets.

Oswald was arrested while he was purchasing a soda from a vending machine. Thats what guys who shot a governor and a president do…they calmly walk to a soda machine and grab a coke afterwards.

  27. LDA says:

    # 23 There is also a case where three Guantanamo suspects were shown video ‘proof’ of them at an Al Qaeda training camp in Afghanistan (with Bin Laden & Mohammed Atta) that was recorded at the same time one of them was reportedly in custody in Britain. Look up “Tipton Three”.

Also the one witness to the Port Arthur shooting that knew the accused could not identify him as the shooter and another claimed the shooter was wearing the clothes that the accused appeared in on the front of Australian news papers (before the witnesses were questioned and with the caption ‘THE KILLER’) which the shooter was apparently not wearing on the day.

    # 26 You can see a devil image, for example, in a picture and it can be a simple coincidence. You can also see a devil image in a picture that has been deliberately put there. “Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get you.”

By the way, how would you diagnose people that see official government plans to commit false flag terror attacks against their own country, who still believe their government would never commit false flag terror attacks against their own country? Oppositional anti-reality delusional psychosis? Wow, I just invented a new disorder (can I have a Rockefeller grant? Someone call Pfizer, I think we can make some money from this).

    # 27 He was seen after the shooting in the TSBD building buying soda by a cop but was not arrested there. The significance supposedly is that he wasn’t flustered and therefore could not, in the short time between the shooting and the encounter, have gotten there from the sniping position without being noticeably out of breath, for the (dvorak.org/blog, dvorak.org/blog, dvorak.org/blog) record I think this is a relatively weak argument.
