I personally used this model for over 2 years but instead of tin foil I used foil duct tape and it increased my signal substantially.

  2. Tim says:

This seems to be one directional.

This mod, however, seems to be omni-directional.

    #3,

It would be a planar antenna, picking up signal from 180 degrees, because the antenna is at the cans opening. A mono directional antenna would be your classic cantenna, because the antenna is recessed inside the cans Faraday cage.

  4. Phillep says:

Local filters are blocking it. What you talking about?

  5. Greg Allen says:

Can this also be used on the RECEIVING antenna?

You know, for stealing the WiFi from the cafe around the corner?

    (Serious question, BTW)

    bah still looks fugly tho

  7. jasontheodd says:

    Greg Allen,

the same antenna both receives and broadcasts. Multi Input Multi Output arrays (MIMO) just use lotts of antennas. If you use a backplane like these cans, on a MIMO array, they all have to be pointed at the same target.
