Fire London

It’s disturbing what goes through your mind when you see something like what’s pictured above from the office building where you work, with thoughts of what happened here in 2005 in the back of your head. Police say that it’s not terrorist related.

Major fire at Olympic Games site – news.bbc.co.uk: The London Fire Brigade were called just after 1200 GMT on Monday to reports of a huge blaze in Waterden Road, Stratford.
About 40 firefighters are tackling the fire which has created a huge plume of black smoke that can be seen across the city’s skyline.
Waterden Road runs through the site where the 2012 Olympics will be held.
The Metropolitan Police are investigating the incident but have so far discounted a terrorist motive.
“We have nothing to suggest that this anything other than a fire at the moment,” said a police spokesman.
London Ambulance Service have said there are no reports of any casualties.

Update!: Now there are reports of possible asbestos contamination due to the fire. To see more pictures of the situation, click here.

“We have nothing to suggest that it was anything other than a fire at the moment” – Brilliant 5star

  2. Pierre says:

It’s just normal cooking smoke from the new DIvo restaurant. The neighbors will get used to it.

Good thing Monday Night Football is Reading v. Arsenal. It would be hell trying to get to Upton Park, today.

  4. D Huber says:

Obviously Photoshoped. How else do you explain a blue sky in London.

  5. Pete says:

NOT photoshopped – it’s been all over the BBC news and I live about 1/4 of a mile from the site. The problem is, all the warehouses and factory buildings within the site are abandoned now, and all due for demolition in the next few weeks. Most likely young vandals setting fire to things – I don’t know why they didn’t just let it burn – they’re going to knock all those old industrial units down anyways…
