Probably much more to the story than you are hearing from the “victim”. There are thousands of American servicepeople in Europe, many of them with dependents, yet this rarely happens.
My guess is that the kids were found under improper care by the ‘fiance’ and taken away for their own good.
Nothing to do with political revenge, specially over a spy case.
