Click here for a corral-full of asters

As it is most places where you have four seasons, autumn is a beautiful time of year. And my favorite autumn flower is the wild aster.

My neighbor has kept his horses up at summer pasture longer than usual, this year; so, the wild asters are really established in his corral.

Great pictures. Fall is by far my favorite season of the year. It’s all to short here in Utah.

Slightly off topic: Is .Mac worth it?

  2. Eideard says:

James, it is for a couple of reasons and maybe a few to come. Especially with the recent increase in storage and hosting hits.

I use it to host my own website – which accumulates all my posts at DU and just a few more. I use it to host photos – like today – which are larger than usual for DU.

I’m buying one of the new iMacs when Leopard arrives – and I’ll probably start to use the iPhoto/iWeb combination for online photo galleries, too.

Man those plants are widespread. We have a good crop in the field behind us in (Ontario, Canada). I’ve moved a few to our gardens around the house.

Eideard, nice photos. Just a few hundred miles east of you, in N. Central TX we don’t get autumn. One day everything’s summer, a week later the trees are barren. But at least it doesn’t get cold until Feb., cold being highs in the lower 40’s.

I asked a friend of mine, “Why did you move to TX?” His reply, “Screw snow, I drove south at Christmas until I saw people outdoors wearing short sleeved shirts, so we moved to Austin.” He was tired of snowblowing his driveway every winter day just to go to work. 🙂

#2 – That makes sense. I’ve gone back and forth on either paying for it or trying some of the hacks to roll your own iDisk server. Backup is my primary interest.

  6. Eideard says:

#5 – I know there’s a “new improved” version coming with Leopard; but, I’m an advertiser’s 1st choice for the existing version of Backup.

Being an inveterate experimenter, I’ve managed to blow-up my Home directory, etc., a couple times in the past few years. With Backup – automated and feeding a standalone HD – I’ve restored perfectly every time.

Actually, I’m backing my wife’s computer to a network HD [Airport Extreme], my computer to the network HD, all media files [kept on another standalone] to the network HD – daily. So, we have 2 copies of everything at all times. Planning for the new and rearranged study end October, I’ll probably add a flavor of DVD into the mix, weekly or monthly.

Fall’s too short in MN too but if the weather’s right for leave color, it can be gorgeous.

Ed, you live in God’s country. I hope to visit your fine state again some day.

My Dad was just commenting on the fall wildflowers this past w/e Ed. The desert marigolds and globe mallows are going crazy he said. I won’t get to see them this year, they will be gone by Thanksgiving, my next trip home.

#9, Hop, I’m already looking forward to the annual Thanksgiving Luau! 🙂
