Paul Bremer, America’s former proconsul in Baghdad, defended his reputation against comments from President George Bush that the official had acted on his own accord in committing one of the most calamitious mistakes of the Iraq war.

In a breach with the Administration he once served, Mr Bremer released two letters to the New York Times refuting Mr Bush’s remarks in a new biography that the White House was not involved in the decision to dissolve the Iraqi army.

The publication of that exchange of letters between the White House and Washington’s man in Baghdad sheds new light on the chaotic and somewhat incidental way in which Mr Bush dealt with events in Iraq – though his legacy as president will be almost entirely defined by the war.

It’s always a “special moment” when the Liar-in-Chief is caught in yet another lie. Of course, when he’s not busy lying, he just sounds like a fool:

“Yeah, I can’t remember, I’m sure I said, ‘This is the policy, what happened?'”

  1. Rabble Rouser says:

Bremer is a piece of carp.
He’s a traitor for Bushco, Inc.
His handling of Iraq after the war, was not just incompetent, it was criminal.

Check the link, see the movie. You will know why I am saying this, and why I say that he’s a traitor, and a war criminal, and should be treated as such.

  2. doug says:

so many liars. who to believe the least? that’s not really news, of course. I guess neither is the casualness with which Bremer (with the tacit or explicit OK of the higher-ups) dismantled Iraq’s basic institutions.

of course it was an article of neo-Con faith that the Universal Desire for Democracy [TM] would sweep aside petty things like sectarian differences and Washingtons, Jeffersons and Madisons were lurking behind every sand dune just waiting to leap out and take the reins.

so why bother thinking things out?

  3. edwinrogers says:

Well it’s a nice photograph and they both have such nice hair. I see George has a wrist watch. Very tasteful.

  4. Seth says:

I think we need to hold politicians to a higher standard. Currently it takes a whole lot to actually go to jail. Generally the punishment is early retirement or shifting to another cushy position.

What if we find that Bush lied about everything and we find out that he maliciously led our country to war (not saying that he did) what would happen? It’s a good bet that he would still be a free man.

Clinton lied under oath. Something they would have thrown the book at someone like me and he kept is job.

    Just saying…

  5. Gary Marks says:

About the photo, #3 edwinrogers says… “I see George has a wrist watch. Very tasteful.”

I wouldn’t be too envious. The watch was actually a gift from Bremer, brought home from Iraq. It may look nice, but it’s running several centuries slow 😉

  6. tikiloungelizard says:

Hehehehe. As if Bremer just woke up one morning and decided, “hey, I think I’ll dissolve the Iraqi army today, on my own”. Funny. Reminds me of that old saying, “Success has many fathers, but failure is an orphan”.

  7. DavidtheDuke says:

“Crap, we didn’t have a War Czar then.. who was sorta in charge back then?? Bremer? Get Tony Snow!!”

  8. Noname says:

This goes to show, with Bush, it really is “BIRDS of a FEATHER FLOCK TOGETHER”.

#1 Calling Bremer “a piece of carp….a traitor” really applies to all in the White House and all Bush executive appointees.

I am getting Bush overload here. Bush has maxed me on my lifetime loathing limit. There is only so much loathing you can have for someone. I’ve resigned myself to realize that true justice will never be served here on earth with BUSH&CO.

The only thing this turd could do thats more insulting, is to be buried in Arlington National Cometary.

Unfortunately, my feelings spill over to all those who voted for him.

  9. MikeN says:

Wait a minute, the only evidence that Bush said this is from Robert Draper, the same author who claimed that Harriet Miers was recommended by John Roberts. This guy who you previously pegged as revealing how bad was the President Bush, is actually trying to pass the buck on every bad decision made by the man. Next he’ll claim immigration amnesty was Karl Rove or maybe Elaine Chao.

  10. TIHZ_HO says:

We hoped you enjoyed “US Democracy in action on FOX”

Coming next fall a comedy that is sure to please:

“US Democracy RE-LOADED – Look out Iran” 😆

How is this any different than say what China does?

    Cheers

  11. TIHZ_HO says:

Better to say what you THINK China does…

    Cheers

  12. The Monster's Lawyer says:

Bremer to Bush: “Thanks for the reach around.”
