I think it’s done with magnets.

    Actually, fish can be trained to respond to commands like this. I’ve seen it, and done it myself. (ya start with food, just like you can train a dog with kibble), I have just never seen it done as well as in this film (which has been around a while – seen it before). ~LB

    I think they were trained to follow his fingers for food. Also, they probably have a natural tendency to school. With a lot of perseverance…

    They actually use their lateral lines to detect the weak electrical fields from other fish close to themselves and to keep a certain distance between them.
    You can see the same thing occurring but at a much larger scale in this video:
