BBC NEWS | Americas | Huge payout for men framed by FBI — This is just bad in every way. And guess what taxpayers get to dole out the money?

A federal judge in Boston has ordered the US government to pay out more than $100m (£50m) in the case of four wrongly convicted men…

In this latest case, lawyers for Mr Salvati, Mr Limone and the families of the two others argued that Boston FBI agents knew that mob hitman Joseph Barboza had lied when he named the four as Deegan’s killers.

Mr Barboza, they said, was trying to protect a fellow FBI informant, Vincent Flemmi, who was involved in the Deegan murder.

I’d think this’d be enough to persuade even J Edgar hisself to exit his grave @ 7200 RPM or so, dress and all…

  2. J. Edgar Hoover says:

OK, that’s just about enough of this junk. Lauren, it was 14,400 RPM and I’m extremely honked. What’s this nonsense about a “Homeland Security” and these NSA creeps?

If I can get my panties out of this wad, I’m gonna haunt all of you government pansies!! Eat this, you witless bunch of D.C. rat’s butt munchin” morani!! In my day, we really knew how to intimidate scum like these gubmint jerks. Ha — my secret files will soon be revealed.

Call me back from the grave?? To see this garbage?? FDR’s gonna have to adjust my bra strap now!!

This is why you shouldn’t trust the government. They are out to get you.

  4. MikeN says:

Lauren, you should know better. The Hoover cross dressing is a myth.

Sounds like Richard Jewell didn’t get enough money. He only got 5 million for being arrested for the bombing of the Olympics, his name broadcast to the whole country as a terrorist instead of a hero who kept people from being killed.

  5. moss says:

Anyone with long term experience in activities where the central task involves civil liberties, civil rights, “controversial” concepts like peace and equal opportunity – has already learned firsthand that U.S. “intelligence” agencies are as concerned with repression and reactionary politics as any other official mandate.

  6. bobbo says:

This is disturbing. Last time I noticed, the pound was worth $1.50. Knew I shoulda invested in Euro’s at 12% but couldn’t get my money out of the GOUSA!

So, lying is never a good policy. Worse when I assume those wrongly convicted were mafioso types? Put your life on the line to protect the public against pure scum, and you go a step too far.

    Them’s the rules.

But his lust for strapping young men isn’t.

  8. doug says:

#1. I suspect that JEH would not have a problem with these agents’ actions. He was an ‘ends justifies the means’ kind of guy. In fact, JEH was still running the Fibbies in 65, so maybe he authorized it.

#4. Damn straight – Richard Jewell should have gotten a billion dollars, the Medal of Freedom and a personal apology on the lawn of the White House. Not only was he painted as a terrorist, but as a pathetic Walter Mitty type who lived in his parents’ basement dreaming of being a super hero. He gets his chance, saves a bunch of people, only to have the tards of federal law enforcement turn on him without a shred of evidence. Utterly disgraceful.

  9. Mr. Fusion says:

The FBI just thought of them as “collateral damage”? Why oh why haven’t these agents been criminally charged with Obstruction of Justice?
