From the ABC series, Lost.

Late yesterday, ABC quietly launched their HD player powered by Move Networks’ publishing platform and Move’s player. There is now an ‘HD Showcase’ with shows including Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, Lost and Ugly Betty running at HD resolution (1280×720).
To see the HD video, go to the following site, click on “Launch player,” then click on the box that says “Episodes now available in ABC HD”:

The video looks pretty clean but my system had problems with it. My CPU is only a Pentium 2.13 GH. I have a 15mb broadband connection so I guess the processor isn’t fast enough. It was a little choppy. |
Rats, only U.S. viewers are allowed to watch the episodes. I really don’t feel like doing the job of hunting down a proxy in the U.S. to be able to see it. Too much trial an error.
Is this IE only? The instructions talk about the Windows Defender bar showing up at the top of the screen, but the page does jack-squat when opened in firefox. If it is IE only, it would be nice if they made mention of that somewhere.
Well it kinda works. It keeps jumping between an 800kbps SD stream and a 1.4Mbps HD stream. And I know that any connection problems are on their end because I’m on a 50Mbit connection. Universities are so much fun when the students are away for the summer.
Yeah.. I couldn’t even get on showtime’s website to get info on the next Penn & Teller until recently.
I can’t say for sure, but I”m betting that CBC doesn’t block stateside viewers from it’s streams..
sigh.
I installed the player but can’t get full screen nor any indication that it is even available.
Looking at the offerings, there is not a single show I want to watch!!!
Some of the news items looked interesting, but not worth waiting thru the commercials. Lets hope it uninstalls.
Looked choppy on my end too.
Gotta wonder why they don’t use technology that works, like DIVX. Is this a case of ‘not developed by us’ syndrome?
I watch plenty of shows not exactly legally uploaded, not because I want to watch it ilegally, but just because it’s a more convenient alternative…
Downloaded the Mac version OK. Stumbled around for a minute or two before I remembered to unblock [ABP] the page in Firefox.
Runs just fine with my 1.66ghz Mini/1gb RAM – full screen on a 20″ cinema display. I’ll probably experiment with it for a bit; but, I’d rather just download and send content to my Apple TV and the HD set in the living room.
Got full screen now on my Firefox extension–it had not fully loaded from the first install attempt.
Now the “Full Player” loads with an error message that the episodes are temporarily unavailable. I wonder how my high def camcorder will record off my 21 inch screen?
Note: I made the photo of that gorgeous girl clickable for size.
Funny……she dosen’t LOOK lost!!!!! 🙂

The same problem happens with Showtime’s web page.. And these idiots wonder why HBO fares much better than them.
