German police broke into a darkened apartment fearing they would find a dead body, after neighbors complained of a nasty smell seeping out onto the staircase.

Yeah – I thought this was going be another one of those discoveries of a mummy sitting in front of the TV set.

The shutters of the apartment had been closed for more than a week and the mailbox was filled with uncollected mail.

But instead of a corpse, they found a tenant with very smelly feet, asleep in bed next to a pile of foul-smelling laundry, said police in the southwestern town of Kaiserslautern.

Eeeoouw!

HAHA, I just read this about an hour ago.

I’d hate to be those cops.

This reminds me of my roomate last year. His feet smelled so horribly, it stunk up the whole hallway in the evenings. I had to frequently spray lysol and frebreeze EVERYWHERE to counter act the odor. Those were good times 😀

Decades ago when I was taking organic chemistry, the professor uncorked an effusion of cadaverine and putrescine. These are the greatest offenders in the rotting flesh smell. He gave extra credit for anyone that stayed for the entire lecture. I vividly remember this, along with his comment that these compounds where also present in acute vaginitis, and to a much lessor degree semen. That was one way to make a lesson memorable.

The cops must have reacted like “OMG the corpse is alive!!!”

My apartment is adjacent to the floor’s communal bathroom. When babes come over they have more to contend with than just the smelly clothes at the head of my cot.

I bet his girlfriend dumped him.
