Cucumber Pepsi

Tokyo, Japan — Japanese are staying cool as a cucumber this summer with “Pepsi Ice Cucumber” — a new soda based on the crisp green gourd.

The soft drink, which hit stores on Tuesday, doesn’t actually have any cucumber in it, but has been artificially flavored to resemble the refreshing taste of a fresh cucumber.

All I can say is YUCH!!! Only in Japan.

  1. sdf says:

You can literally have a different soda every day there – don’t knock it till you’ve tried it. Marketing is just marketing too – Orange Crush doesn’t exactly remind me of oranges.

  2. Raff says:

Pepsi Ice? I thought the “Ice” moniker was basically for beer.. like Bud Ice or Milwaukee’s best ice, Keystone ice.. etc..

  3. BubbaRay says:

Way cool — a soft drink with twice the belching potential of regular soda!!

  4. mark says:

    3. Bubba- LOL, now I’d like to see Garlic Flavored Pepsi.

  5. tcc3 says:

This is no different than Dr Browns celery soda, which I admit I’ve never had the nerve to try.

Dr Brown knows his cream soda though.

  6. Raff says:

    Jones has the wackiest flavors…

  7. KVolk says:

When they bring out the brussel sprout flavor then the end is truly here.

  8. tallwookie says:

I’ve heard of cucumber oil – but cucumber flavored soda? wtf!?

  9. hhopper says:

Raff – Turkey and Gravy soda?? That’s way farther out than Cucumber.

  10. mark says:

There is a grapefruit soda from Jamaica called TING, has anyone seen it in the US? its my favorite.

  11. Paul says:

Squirt is a grapefruit soda. It’s found throughout the US.

  12. mark says:

Ive had Squirt, Squirt is no Ting, its not bad though.

  13. tallwookie says:

    Is ting like a spritzer?

  14. mark says:

    13. No its a regular soda, tart, like Squirt, but really potent, makes your eyes water. Small bottle, like 8 oz. I got hooked on them in the West Indies. That and Pickapeppa, a Jamaican steak sauce.

  15. Jägermeister says:

#4 – Bubba- LOL, now I’d like to see Garlic Flavored Pepsi.

Or Pepsi Brown Beans – Same good taste, but double the effect!

  16. Angel H. Wong says:

Lays’ sells green tea flavoured potato chips in China.

  17. tallwookie says:

$14 – lol I have a bottle of pickapeppa in my fridge – buddy of mine went down there a few months ago & brought it back…. and I still think it tastes like A1 w/ tobasco

  18. mark says:

    17. tallwookie- yeah, it aint cheap, but it aint $14.00. And it doesnt taste anything like A1. Tried it on grilled mahi, yeah baby.

  19. Juan Cardona says:

I live in Japan and there are weirder soda flavors here: yogurt coke, strawberries and whipped cream, lemon and kiwi shake soda… And the snacks they have here… little dry anchovies, dry chopped octopus tentacles… ughhh

  20. Tayster says:

I guess truth really is stranger than fiction. Here’s a bit on Okra Cola from 25 years ago. http://youtube.com/watch?v=4M9WbLawD2I

  21. Fresca says:

I’m basically a recovering Mountain Dew addict, but I’ve found Fresca to be a decent alternative. It’s like Dew with a grapefruit kick.

Did you know Mountain Dew is orange juice? Check the ingredients…

    woot!

  22. Don Marsh says:

Next year, they roll out the Pepsi Squid… 🙂

  23. BubbaRay says:

Or Pepsi Brown Beans – Same good taste, but double the effect!
    Comment by Jägermeister

For breakfast, it’s Pepsi with “Loostners Caster-oil Flakes — with real glycerin vibra-foam! Cleans the whole system, right on down the line!”
