This picture that appeared in Time Magazine showing the office of Al Gore proves to me that he is a scatterbrain. I klnow because I am a recovering messy office dingbat myself. Some years ago the fabled direct marketeer Joe Sugarman decided to visit the most successful richest people he could find to see if there was a common thread. There was and it was a clean well organized neat office with a clear desk. I’ve noticed this too. The super rich with no exceptions all have uncluttered desks. I cannot keep my desk uncluttered for more than a couple of days after throwing everything on it into a box. When people visit they usually yell “Call the police, your place has been ransacked!”

  1. RBG says:

Al Gore says he “created” the internet – he didn’t “invent” it.

Now let’s stop making fun of him.

So let me tell you how you too can have a perfectly clean desk like me. Just clear all your detritus into boxes stashed in the closet. You’ll never miss any of it.

“He voted on a couple of bills here and there – – just like a lot of other Congresscritters. I know about ARPANet , etc”

Thank you once again for showing your ignorance and allowing me to point it out. Your statement is an example of how little you know about the subject. My description of “tireless effort” is more than accurate if you know anything about the topic, which you don’t.

Try looking up the “High Performance Computing and Communication Act of 1991” Look who wrote that bill. If you read it and understand what it was about you may start to think that the phrase “I took the initiative in creating the Internet” is not all that untrueat all. Unless of course you feel you are so dug into the smear campaign that you can’t back out now.

  4. TJGeezer says:

Last I heard, Al Gore won the 2000 election by every recount method tried, after the Supremes appointed Bush. Shove all that “illegal recount” crap back into your preziduncial thinking orifice, Global. And anyone who thinks Bush actually won Ohio or Florida in 2004 has his head up Global’s preziduncial thinking orifice too.

Yes, I know they weren’t the first elections to be stolen. Yes, I know they won’t be the last. And I gave up fuming over it years ago. But fer crissake, all you right-wingers, please stop denying the obvious.

#42 – astro4554 – that http://tinyurl.com/35a42a link is really interesting. Gore’s messy desk is irrelevant but that speech in Malaysia certainly wasn’t. I’d like to learn more about that.

  5. James Hill says:

#52 – Trump’s desk in real life is a pig sty. It’s been seen on his now-canceled TV show a few times.

To me, it just sounds like you’re all worked up about not getting on the Apple BoD.

  6. TheGlobalWarmer says:

#64 – Shows how liberal propaganda persists. Say it enough times and people believe it.

Like it or not, the system works and the correct candidate won.

#63 – ARPANet research goes back to to 60’s. The “Internet” emerged in the 70’s . In 1994 there was a big celebration of the Internet’s 25 anniversary. Al-Bore was a little late to the party. He may have supported it (the only right thinking in his career) but his overall importance in the whole thing is not as humungous as he wants us to believe.

Algore should burn all that paper on his desk – we need the greenhouse gases.

Why don’t you have a look and see what Robert Kahn and Vinton Cerf had to say about the topic?

You seem to think that Al Gore wasn’t in office in the mid 70’s when the term Internet was first used. You know nothing about the topic so stop visiting wikipedia and pretending you do.

BTW ARPANET is not the internet. I laugh because you don’t understand the their relationship at all.

  8. TJGeezer says:

#32 – Jennifer – That’s a great NY Times link. It deserves an underscore.

Excerpt: “Studies are piling up that show that messy desks are the vivid signatures of people with creative, limber minds (who reap higher salaries than those with neat “office landscapes”) and that messy closet owners are probably better parents and nicer and cooler than their tidier counterparts. It’s a movement that confirms what you have known, deep down, all along: really neat people are not avatars of the good life; they are humorless and inflexible prigs, and have way too much time on their hands.”

    Say Yes to Mess!

  9. TheGlobalWarmer says:

#67 – Whatever. I’m just thankful that conceited, megalomaniacal, elitist, control freak idiot is not president. It would be better to destroy the planet than have his vision of it become true.

Question: how much has trying to slap me down raised your temp and contributed to Global Warming(TM)?

I actually do have to admit I respect his messy desk – never have cared for clean desks. If you can see your desk you don’t actually use it for work.

  10. joshua says:

#64…TJGeezer…..I think you need to read up a bit on the Florida recounts. Everyone done showed Bush winning. Even the one done by the Liberal newspapers who were sure they would prove Bush lost…..he won that one as well.

Bush should have lost Florida. But the stupid asses that put the ballot together in Palm Beach country cost him the election. When they screwed up the placement of Buchannon and Nader. In fact, they could share the fault of Gore losing with Nader. Those would have been Gore votes, almost 5% of the Florida vote.

There were many screw ups election night. The early call by the networks cost Bush several thousand votes in the Panhandle. The way absentee ballots from our troops overseas were handled cost Bush votes. Dade county’s ballot cost Gore votes. And of course Broward and Palm Beach counties cost Gore.
    It wasn’t a conspirousy….it was generalized stupidity.

  11. Li says:

A:But, but, Al Gore won the presidency!
B:No he didn’t, Bush did, you need to go read some unspecified things for a while until we agree!
    A: No! I won’t, read these things!
    B: No! I know I’m right!
All: (the sound of whiny spoiled brat crying)

That election was so badly manged on all sides that we will never know what happened. Arguing about it now is like arguing what color Abraham Lincoln’s underpants were; it is irrelivent to the fact that our elections are still broken. Please, look to the present, or the future, which you can change, and stop dwelling on the past.

  12. TJGeezer says:

70 – Joshua, you’re right. It was a screw-up from every angle. And it wouldn’t surprise me if Nader was paid by the Republicans, the way he broke his own word not to run in Florida. Then again, having a Texas GOP activist create a fake list of “felons” in order to disqualify potential Dem voters, well. Like I said, not the first elections to be stolen, though maybe the first for an incurious cokehead and alcoholic drinker in some sort of white-knuckled dubious recovery. Anyway, as Li says, it’s over.

But as for the recount results, I was going on what I remember. I’ll look for links on the subject that aren’t overtly partisan – and if you can provide some, I’d like to see them.

71 – Li – Now now, calm down. you’re all upset.

  13. Mr. Fusion says:

    TheGlobalLoser,

Did your mother have any kids that lived? Obviously, you’re not here to post anything intelligent. So why are you here?

  14. Bryan Carney says:

I agree with poster 73 and many others. This Global Warming Freak is very unproductive. I wish people would stop provoking him (like I am doing right now.) He spouts talking points like it’s 2005.

This moron needs to be called out by Mr. Dvorak for what he is.

  15. Paul Yoder says:

If a cluttered desk signs a cluttered mind, Of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?
    Albert Einstein.

  16. TheGlobalWarmer says:

#73 – If “intelligent” means believing global warming is bad, or that the gov’t has the right to tax fuel purposely to discourage me from consuming it (like Algore has advocated) then you’re correct.

  17. Lavi says:

My mum used to say to me, “A cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind.”

I used to reply, “An empty desk is the sign of an empty mind.”

Now I think, ” A cluttered organized desk is the sign of a busy man who has things under control!!”
