Fire destroys famous Cutty Sark – Metro.co.uk: An investigation has been launched after fire ripped through the Cutty Sark – one of Britain’s best-preserved maritime treasures.
Homes were evacuated after firefighters were called to the historic 19th-century tea clipper, preserved in dry dock in Greenwich.
According to experts 50 per cent of the ship was not at the site because it had been taken away for renovation.
The ship is currently closed for a £25 million renovation and the fire brigade said there were fears because of gas cylinders on board.
If the ship is destroyed it will be regarded as a severe loss to Britain’s maritime history.
Well being Britain and all, there won’t be a shortage of video.
Just change the signs.

Is it just me or does the fact that half the ship was not there is too much of a coincidence?
#1 – Unless said event is declared to be terror related in any way shape or form at which point it will come to light that all CCTV cameras in the area simultaneously mal-functioned or had no tapes in them!

#3 why a coincidence? It’s been going through a huge rennovation having been battered by tourists and salt air for years with the wood being treated, repaired and replaced.
A real shame, even more so that arson is suspected. The ship’s otherwise much loved in London.
