I guess what has me really concerned lately is the news that a lot of financial institutions (banks, insurance, etc.) are outsourcing American financial information to a part of the world which is not secure, to say the least. The potential for disaster is mind-boggling.

Sooner or later, the value of a US worker will be lower than the current bidding of a gmail address on ebay. …

    John,

While developing my Beta for K-9.5, I looked at kennel fees in various locales and other costs. With World Bank loans supporting development and cash subsidies for rawhide treats, Milk Bones and rubber balls, I found that I could attract more dogvelopers because of the IMF Dogs in Technology program.

Seamus up in New York has begun lobbying the U.S. Congress and we are hoping that Sen. Clinton will help pass ROVERTA legislation this fall and the legislation will give NAFTA some bite. Currently, K-9.5 is focused on dogvelopment in Ireland with a group of wolfhounds running a network and programming a search engine in development code named Doogle. Our estimates are that once Doogle is fully implemented, the British will leave Ireland and start bothering Hong Kong and India again.

    Your buddy, your Pal,
    Lucky

May be old news, but, FWIW, CNN’s Lou Dobbs keeps an ongoing list of companies known to be exporting jobs overseas.

    http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/lou.dobbs.tonight

Saw someone complaining that companies he has recommended often turn out to be exporting jobs also; but, ‘twould seem to me, that could also simply be interpreted to show that the problem is even more widespread than Dobbs can verify.

One pattern I’ve noted: Corporations seem to have developed a strategy to evade questions regarding exporting jobs. I’ve read customer support newsgroups where someone complains that customer support cannot understand English. They ask where customer support is located. They get a canned response that that inoformation cannot be disclosed for “security reasons.” Security reasons?? To tell the consumer what country he is talking to?

Best comment I’ve run across on the net was someone saying not to worry: “At this rate, we’ll soon be a 3rd-world country and *we’ll* get the jobs….”

Durst I say it? John’s blog is proving to be, perhaps, at least as interesting as a regular magazine column. Perhaps he will soon add one of those “Donate” buttons. Perhaps he will use PayPal.
