These are meant to be jokes, and yet…

Jokes: 1973 vs. 2007

Scenario: Jack pulls into school parking lot with rifle in gun rack of his truck.

1973: Vice Principal comes over, takes a look at Jack’s rifle, goes to his truck and gets his to show Jack.

2007: School goes into lockdown, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.

Scenario: Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.

1973: Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up best friends.

2007: Police called, SWAT team arrives, arrests Johnny and Mark. Charge them with assault, both expelled even though Johnny started it.

Scenario: Jeffrey won’t be still in class, disrupts other students.

1973: Jeffrey sent to office and given a good paddling by Principal. Sits still in class.

2007: Jeffrey given huge doses of Ritalin. Becomes a zombie. School gets extra money from state because Jeffrey has a disability.

    #27 & #28: I disagree on so many levels that I will not waste my time on replying to everything. It is quite amazing how some people can see things so black and white – either you have to have the right to do every single stupid thing that you want or you feel like living in a dictatorship. You guys crack me up. It is also funny that this line of thought is selectively applied (even in the US) and you feel fine about being denied the right to plenty of other things or that your government can exercise many of the things usually typical to real dictatorships (e.g. the right to spy on citizens pretty much any means they see fit).
