This is what happens when news people surf the web for “news”… and don’t substantiate it.

I find the morning coffee klatch on cable news to be beyond tedious. I don’t even turn on the television anymore before I head to work.
Are you saying the story ins’t true? If so I’l like to see a cite for that.
If you check Google News you get several references. None of which after an admitedly quick look say it isn’t true.

Even the crappiest of blogs cite sources, which would have prevented this whole error. Well it’s really not citing sourses as much as it is just linking to articles someone else wrote, but still.
I guess I should look up at the screen every so often to look for little red lines under my typing.
FOX should stick to their regular method also known as “making shit up”.
#6 ROFL
Ok – a ham sammich, not the end of the world. Now, if it was a suckling pig, complete with apple in its jaws.. would that have been cause for a Jiahd?
Geeze,
Another story for FAUX NEWS.
Don’t you all know it’s NOT news, it’s entertainment!
That is pretty messed up. Every story as such makes me lose faith in mankind as a whole.
But… but… but… Fox News is balanced! There’s no excuse for what the satire sites did – posting this actual news story as if it were parody. As usual, Fox got it right, and as usual, you damned Liberals refuse to see the obvious.
I wonder if that other balanced news outlet, the Onion, will run a story on this. It would be a bit hard to satirize since it starts out ridiculous. It could make a good Man In the Street item, though.
ham as spam it doesn’t get any better than this.
#6, Mathew, good one.
#11, TJ, An even better explanation.
#6 it’s not like it was the Onion. I’d never heard of the Associated Content site. Which is why it wasn’t even one of the few sites I looked at before I posted above.
#14 – and in all fairness this story did apparently make it into the AP feeds without any sort of humor label.
It’ll be interesting to see if anyone issues an embarrassed retraction.
That’s pretty much what I would expect from the Faux News Corpse
#16 – Why?
How could Fox News possibly embarrass themselves?
They actually have to be self aware for this to happen.
no doubt the producers at Fox “News” saw an item that fit their preconceptions (crazy PC types running our schools!) and leaped at it without so much as a fact-check.
I recall some pro-lifer bloggista working up a good froth over an Onion bit about a woman who had abortions for fun, then hastily claim he was in on the gag the whole time.
there should be a “sucker a zealot” contest for the best one of these.
Faux news has no idea what real journalism is about. They make up crap, and their reporting of news is as real as a supermarket tabloid.
Does anyone actually believe anything they ‘report’ anymore?
I live right outside of Lewiston, Maine. What really happened was a hamsteak was put in front of a Somalian student. There is no anti-ham task force! Read the article to get what really happened and see how twisted it got.

I agree… Fox news just plain makes up crap. They are simply a propaganda tool for the GOP.
But, unfortunately, LOT’S of people really do believe them. They have been told that the “MSM” are the same thing as Fox, but for the left.
Fox is on the right; NPR is the same on the left.
Of course this is nonsense. Fox doesn’t even try to be fair and balanced. Most of the other “MSM” does.
