Is the weather machine back?

ScienceDaily: China claims creating artificial snowfall — Probably nothing more than some cloud seeding…I hope.

China Wednesday claimed to have created an artificial snowfall over northern Tibet, making it possible for humans to change the weather at high altitudes.

In a report from the Tibetan capital of Lhasa, the official Xinhua news agency said the local meteorological department created the snowfall a week ago, which left about 0.3 inches — or one centimeter — of snow on the ground at an altitude of 14,763 feet or 4,500 meters. The event occurred in Nagqu County in northern Tibet.

Cloud seeding is right. Do it up there and you are bound to get snow.

  2. Peter Rodwell says:

Surely the last thing they need in Tibet is more snow?

  3. Gig says:

Now if they had stopped snow in Tibet, that would have been a news stroy.

  4. moss says:

Guys, does someone need to explain that Tibet is high desert? They need all the precip they can get.

  5. Erik Blazynski says:

so what, the russians have been doing this for 20 years, in fact for $1 million, they will come and seed the clouds ahead of an event that you are having. This russians are whores..

(sung to the tune of “Let It Snow”)

    The Chinese are cloud seeding
for precip that they are needing
    the result may be slow
let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

    J/P=?

  7. James Hill says:

It’s cloud seeding, and nothing more. Next story.

  8. BubbaRay says:

I like that they did it with rockets, but cloud seeding is still an ‘iffy’ kind of deal, isn’t it? Perhaps they have some new research to make results more reliable. With this drought in the US SW, we don’t even have many clouds to seed.
