This is, in fact, Pamela Jones’ official pic

EETimes.com – SCO seeks court’s help in quest for blogger’s deposition This is rich. Is SCO still in business? Hmmm, who knew?

The SCO Group this week stepped up its efforts to gain a court deposition from secretive blogger Pamela Jones, whose Groklaw.com Web site has become a widely read forum for bashing the company’s lawsuits against competitors…

SCO has long been trying to ascertain more about Jones’ identity in an effort to confirm its suspicions that her efforts are underwritten by some of the company’s software industry rivals. In Monday’s filing, the company cites numerous industry reports, including a story that appeared on InformationWeek.com, that raised questions about Groklaw’s ties.

SCO’s lawsuits against Novell and IBM center around its claims that parts of the open source Linux operating system distributed by those companies contain code belonging to SCO. IBM and Novell have repeatedly denied those assertions, as well as SCO’s insistence that they are in some way connected to Jones or Groklaw.

Now SCO is after groklaw? “Sinking to a new low” has pretty much lost its meaning when it comes to SCO.

It is amazing that SCO stock is still worth anything. Why would someone still invest in this sinking ship of a company?

The irony is that Groklaw is the place to go if you care to read the motion itself. They even got it converted to text (EE Times links to the PDF of the motion).

Groklaw may be biased, but Pamela Jones herself (or themselves?) said it better: “So what?”

Even if Groklaw is a front for IBM’s own propaganda efforts, who cares? It’s fun, very accurate, and as this motion itself proves beyond any doubt, it’s based in facts. They always link to the actual court filings and report on actual events, no matter who wins a motion or makes a statement, it’s all there.

But the most fun is to read the quotes database, especially things Darl McBride said, such as:

“They have found already a mountain of code”.

That turned out to be less than 400 files, and most of them were dismissed (now there’s less than 100). And that’s worth 5 billion dollars according to SCO.

PS: The Linux kernel has more than 20,000 source code files.

Pamela Jones is a hottie. Nice pic!
