Samsung develops 21-inch OLED for TVs __ When I see it, I’ll believe it. If this comes to market prematurely it will decimate the LCD folks and create general market havoc. I’m not buying it. I’ll ask around at CES and report back. I think it’s just sensationalism.
Electronics maker Samsung has unveiled a prototype OLED display that could push large screens using the next-generation technology to market sooner than expected.
The chipmaking division of the South Korean company on Tuesday announced a 21-inch display for TVs based on organic light-emitting diode technology. OLED is viewed as a potential successor to liquid crystal displays, used in many flat-panel TVs and computer monitors

Anything new at CES? Last year big screens seemed to be the big deal.
Semenza’s comments at the end of the article really reflect the Howard Cosell school of overstating the obvious. His caveat is something the average Marketing 201 student could have provided.
For those who don’t know, the vibrancy of OLED color and contrast vs. power consumption requirements put LCD’s to shame. They should also be cheaper and more environmentally-friendly at the same time.
And isn’t Samsung getting scary? Their decision to chase middle and upper price ranges must have folks like Sony quaking.
