” Fake ” News? Are you sure someone isn’t mistaking the word ‘fake’ for incomplete?!
We all know how these news agencies are owned by Hollywood and how these alphabet-soup agencies have to make a PROFIT! Therefore, it doesn’t take a genius to see how every news story has to be pumped up with sensationalism which ultimately brings in MONEY! And with pressure like that, I’m sure a lot of fact embellishment or fact omitting is going on.
But as far as any “fake-ness”goes, I’ve seen almost no news stories that weren’t based on something! Almost every story you see is loaded with white-lies and half-truths — a lot of them are so skewed to one side that it almost changes the story itself! Just take this latest Russian Email Hacker story, for example and ask yourself: Has anyone (as in any reporter) bothered to investigate any of the claims of being ‘hacked’ to see if maybe all these Russian’s did wasn’t to just LOOK at the nearly infinite numbers of UNENCRYPTED email messages that were sent from a lazy stupid people?! (FYI: if you think your email is private, you’re dead wrong! It’s about as private as a postcard on a public bulletin board.)
The problem tends to be, we dont know Which are lies until its to late.. Unless you are UP’ on everything.
The last 100 years, the politics of HEMP/MJ..the Wood pulp industry/Clothing industry/Drug companies..
There are people that BELIEVE what is on TV, and also the MJ propaganda..
ANY NEWS that goes beyond the point of JUST FACTS..

Fake News has always been with us. The change is that main stream media now treats it on par with credible news. How can they not when they and the fake news sources are all the same people?
There are no more lies on the internet or the media than there ever was. “Fake News” is a failed bullshit meme that now the inventors of it can’t back away from gracefully. But it will die slowly. 3 months from now, you’ll never hear about it again (or maybe until the next election). The meme was a still-born attempt to stifle right wing lies on the internet in response to Hillary losing. Of course left wing lies would still be OK.

AP ran a factcheck of a fake news story, totally pointless because the owner of the website admits its a hoax site to make fun of Trump. But AP thought it was fake news to help Trump, so it had to be attacked.

I went to Times Square for New Years once. The fake news/rumor/scare of the event was a warning that black teenagers had put razor blades in the tips of their shoes and were going around kicking tourists to sever their Achilles tendons.

Fake News coming from websites dressed up to look real, but not real, as snopes described it, is relatively new. And it’s aimed at wingnut “conservatives” because they’re the ones most likely to buy that BS, being the gullible wingnuts that they are. End of story.
I’m with Phydeau on this. The point is not the website itself. It is to have the website, and then others will write “NationalReport.net reported X”, passing it around on facebook and such. People who actually look at the site recognize it’s ridiculous.

PM, fake news is pretty easy to spot. It’s outright LIES from fly-by-night websites. Like “Hillary Clinton is gravely ill”. Or “Hillary Clinton is running a child sex ring out of a DC pizza parlor.” Or “FBI Agent Suspected in Hillary Email Leaks Found Dead”. All lies.
