Actually temperatures were in the low 80’s with humidity around 40%.

  1. MikeN says:

Have you checked the humidity numbers yourself?

These people can’t even seem to follow the latest lie. The overheated story was superseded by pneumonia.

With this, they can at least blame global warming.

  3. Hmeyers says:

Will be an interesting last 60 days or less of the election season.

I think Trump has a bit of an immunity to negative media because the media wears their “Pro-Hillary, Take Trump Out” cause on their sleeves.

Negative reporting on Trump regardless of topic or even merit usually looks and feels like a partisan attack.

When the referee is demonstrates clear bias, even legit stuff will sound like “crying wolf”.

    • Ah_Yea says:

These Liberals are so blindly stupid,

they don’t realize their obvious lies are fueling the Trump Train!

(Or do they? Maybe they want Trump to win? Have him take the blame for the Obama Economy and Obamacare??)

      • Hmeyers says:

I think both the left and the right are blind.

The left just looks worse usually because they are supposed to be more sophisticated.

And when sophisticated people do bias, it looks 5x worse because they flunk the sophistication test.

Versus someone on the right who doesn’t claim to be sophisticated just looks like flathead. And we judge flatheadness by a different metric.

But in all seriousness: The media likes to ask the Trump people about irrelevant stuff (“Is David Duke deplorable?”).

        • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

HM: “But in all seriousness: The media likes to ask the Trump people about irrelevant stuff (“Is David Duke deplorable?”).” //// Why is that irrelevant? If you can’t answer the easy questions, how you gonna answer the more complicated one like “Is Putin deplorable?”

          Know what I mean?

        • Hmeyers says:

The media acts so dumb about Trump, it makes Trump look professional by comparison.

I think Trump is pretty funny and entertaining.

They censored a Trump T-Shirt on a hero firefighter earlier this week.

          It’s comedy gold!

          • jpfitz says:

The Donald appeared on camera today to tell viewers that Barack Obama was born in the United States, “period”.

            Funny and entertaining.

          • Hmeyers says:

He did a masterful trick on the media.

The media only asks Trump questions about “What do you think about David Duke?” and other nonsense.

So he mentions the press conference will about the “birth certificate” and he royally messes with him.

            A true classic!

  4. bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

“Negative reporting on Trump regardless of topic or even merit usually looks and feels like a partisan attack.” /// Only a partisan would have that “feeling” …. as way too many folks do.

It’s hot/Its Mild==>both equally partisan in that they are “conclusions” the speakers wish to have drawn. Non-Partisan would be to state the temp and humidity.

You see this all the time on every issue discussed: not the facts, but the desired conclusions.

    They are all asshats===>feelings included.

  7. Hmeyers says:

    Here’s something cute

    http://observer.com/2016/09/exclusive-hillary-clinton-campaign-systematically-overcharging-poorest-donors/

Hillary Clinton’s campaign routinely over-charged small donors making small contributions like $25.

Would get billed 3 separate charges of $25 and then one for $19, to overcharge for an amount of less than $100 to avoid bank fraud department investigations.

    Cute.

    • Hmeyers says:

What the hell is it with Hillary Clinton and money?

*Overcharging for paid speeches (according to Colin Powell email leak)
      * Clinton Foundation soliciting Saudi Arabia and such, has raised $2 billion. In trouble in Canada for violating tax-empty % that must actually go to charity. In US, 91% of funds raised go to administrative staff and entertainment expenses.
      * Raising money effectively selling arms to foreign governments.
      * Donate to Clinton Foundation, get high tier government position.

      And now this.

      • MikeN says:

Can we get like a $5 gift card at Walgreens and use that to donate to Hillary, just to have her get busted for making invalid charges?

  8. Hmeyers says:

Hillary made a bad mistake when she labelled half of Trump supporters “deplorable”.

You don’t piss off the candidate’s supporters, it raises their turn-out.

  9. Martin says:

I won’t believe Hillary’s health problem was “overheating” and “pneumonia” until I hear it from Susan Rice.

  10. Phydeau says:

Bobbo, I admire your fortitude to wade into this crazy. I’m just not going there. These people are getting more and more wacked. Keep it up, guys. It worked so well in 2008 and 2012. 🙄

    • Georgeo says:

Liberals go on and on about 80 deg. weather being horrific, and you think we’re crazy.

WTH is wrong with you people.

      • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

        Arf, Arf, Arf………Yap, Yap, Yap.

        So captured by the irrelevant.

        • Georgeo says:

Very mature response. Pretty much what I expected.

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Oh…. there you are. Spouting the partisan nonsense as fed.

Where on the age scale do you place: “Liberals go on and on about 80 deg. weather being horrific, and you think we’re crazy.

WTH is wrong with you people.” //// Those people ARE JUST LIKE YOU… only wearing the other sides colors.

Sucks to be you…. or the other you …. depending on why you are who you are.

            Kibbles and Bits.

    • NewFormatSux says:

Waiting for GeorgeoOH to man up…. in the language of his choice…………….

  11. MikeN says:

    http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2016/which_democrat_should_replace_hillary

    • Georgeo says:

I’m surprised they don’t try to recruit John Carrey, he has as much experience as a loser as any of them.

    • Hmeyers says:

They would never let Bernie be the nominee.

And no, they don’t care about what a poll of voters says.

      • Ah_Yea says:

Yes, they don’t care what the people think.

        Just like any good dictatorship.

  12. bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

With the brains of chickens, the dueling D and R shills fight it out over which candidate is good or bad.

Seems to me when the majority of voters dislike BOTH candidates, the turn to Third Parties should be the escape valve…. but its not happening? Why not???? And for that, we can turn back to our two parties.

Seems to me that any candidate that gets on the ballot in all 50 states should be allowed into the “debates” without any minimum polling number at all…….given the polls are all rigged …. just like everything else.

I prefer Wells over Johnson….but would vote for their ticket if they could up chances by September. No chance to do that without the debate.

Rigged. From start to finish, and we argue over the scraps.

    • MikeN says:

Bobbo, haven’t you argued that voting for a third party is stupid?

      • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

In general it is as with Nader running TP it gave us BushtheRetard as Pres instead of Algore even with the voting fraud the Pukes pulled off in Florida. TP’s are SPOILERS giving unwanted results…unless… they have an honest chance of winning. Thats why I said I could vote TP if “they could up their chances ((of winning)) by September.”

I recognize the value of a protest vote as well…giving the election to a second best candidate when the favorite has negatives you cannot abide….. but Trump is not a second best. He is TOTALLY CONTEMPTIBLE.

Do we really need to spell it out any more than it has been???? If you are considering trump at all, even as a protest….. I do have to ask you to go live on that other Planet, with Ron Paul, and GeorgeoOH! Lots of time for spelling Bees.

      • ± says:

Yes bobbo has many times stated that voting third party is stupid. He also has many times denied voting his self interest (as opposed to what is best for the nation) and many times has stated that we should all vote for what is best for our own self-interests.

You have to understand that you are dealing with a confused person. Or worse.

  13. Johnathan says:

“Seems to me when the majority of voters dislike BOTH candidates, the turn to Third Parties should be the escape valve…. but its not happening? Why not???? ”

Because, like yourself (from what I have read), the MSM is never going to give a third party the time of day. Remember Ron Paul, and how he was treated? Like him or not, he was wrongfully marginalized.

People, for whatever reason put their faith in these morons. I guess they’re to busy to try to think for themselves.

    • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Yea, Verily…..but its not just the MSM. As in this case, its the Non-Partisan (a big SIC there) Non-Profit Commission on Presidential Debates===>formed to educate the public on voting issues. HAH!!!!!! I say: HAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everything is a …………. lie.

The rigged system goes all the way down.

    • Hmeyers says:

      Put down the crack pipe.

Ron Paul never ran third party.

What planet do you live on?

      • Georgeo says:

The Planet called EARTH. What planet do you live on.

        • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Say GeorgeoOH, with your linguistic expertise spread over so many languages, the nuances of idiomatic expression in one language or the other may escape you. such as here where “What planet do you live on” means you are obviously defective in maintaining basic information as in Ron Paul being a life long Republican and defender of the Status Quo with side shoots in Libertarian Theory as his personal failure to actually be relevant. Something that should be of interest to you.

When you typed “I live on Earth…” you might have suspected the word play.

          • Georgio says:

I ran your comment through google translate, but it came out pure gibberish.

            As usual.

      • MikeN says:

Like Georgeo said, this is what happened on Planet Earth. Ron Paul was not a lifelong Republican, and did run third party. What planet are you guys on?

        • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Good call Mickey….it was in the back of my mind he ran “pro-forma” but I just went with the flow.

Its what cock fights are all about. Fury and feathers.

        • Hmeyers says:

Ok, fine. That was 28 years ago.

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Does kinda make me wonder what planet GeorgeoOH is on….the one where Ron Paul was a life long Republican…..

…………..Ha, ha. Not “fair” but still funny.

  14. bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Watching “Red Eye” from last night. Started off with video clips of all the Hillary Shills saying: “She was POWERING THROUGH….her illness/pneumonia.”

While I think this is more likely true than not…. its telling to watch “talking points” in operation. BOTH sides do it.

thats why listening to “political speech” is valid only when some person is making: “a statement against interest”===otherwise everything out of everyones’ mouth on TV is SUSPECT. They are all shills/talking heads/robots/corrupt.

Anyone here nominally “for” any candidate is a dupe. Hillary is the only candidate to vote for….as the counter to Trump in a two party system.

Sucks….. but thats the way it is.

    • Hmeyers says:

Hillary may be a terrible candidate, but you can take pride in the vice-president being an exciting …

      — oh nevermind, that guy is like a sack of potatoes.

He needs to wear a name tag at Democratic events otherwise security guards walk up to him and say

“Sir, this is a restricted area. Please step behind the line.”

      • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

        So true.

And yet like Hillary v Trump…. quite more capable than Pence.

Our standard bad choices are VP Deep.

        Sucks to be…………… us.

        • Hmeyers says:

Will be a fun election season, there’s probably more to come.

I do think Hillary had her “Let them eat cake!” moment.

But there’s more election season left.

What would be funny is if she loses the election and Obama changes his mind an has her indicted.

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

You mean indict her if Bill doesn’t give up his Foundation work……so that Obama can take it over????

Yeah, I can see that, new evidence or not.

      • MikeN says:

Took hundreds of thousands of dollars in gifts just like his predecessor Bob McDonnell. Being selected as VP is probably what caused the Justice Department to decide not to prosecute McDonnell again.

    • MikeN says:

I’m surprised Phydeau hasn’t said powering thru yet.

  15. MikeN says:

Read until you DO understand it…. ask questions if you can formulate them.

    its all very clear.

How long until that can be quoted back to you?

    • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Observe. “What do you mean Mickey?”

  16. Hmeyers says:

The “big story” tomorrow will be what I think is the Trump Campaign’s”Troll The Media #2″ …

Trump used what I think was a carefully calibrated “slip up” to shift the gun debate to how they keep people safe.

Implying that if Hillary’s security detail got rid of their guns, she would not be safe.

The media will bite, but they have to repeat the quote — which will be used to vigorous promote how guns keep people safe for the next week, while muddling any plans Hillary had for the next few days.

    • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

      #2?

I don’t have enough fingers and toes to count the lies of Donald Drumf. Everything of a factual nature out of his mouth is a lie. Maybe 2-3 exceptions…. and he’s been talking everyday for over a year.

I’ll bet there is a couple of webpages listing them all….. I don’t care to look them up—disgusting. Drumf’s lies is “one” issue, the willingness of his support base to lap it up is even more disgusting.

But yeah….the MSM doesn’t have the backbone nor the attention span to NAIL Drumf and press him on why he lied, lied repeatedly, and even continues with trying to blame Hillary.

Buffoon or as Jon Stewart called him: “F*ck Face von Clown Stick.” Fits.

      • Hmeyers says:

Trump is like 1990s Bill Clinton in many ways.

Not surprising considering Trump more resembles a 1990s centrist Democrat than someone from either party today.

        • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Whaaaaaa? Trump is a “centrist.” He’s anti-war while stoking for it more than any other candidate in history (including Goldwater and McCain) and he’s for Social Security and Universal Healthcare with no fricking idea as to how to fund it while he’s cutting taxes mostly for his own class and lying to the rest of us.

Beyond that…….How is Trump anything but a narcissistic megalomaniac? Slick Willy is known for “triangulation” of issues. Trump is known for being a wacko all on his own, rejected by the leaders of his own nominal party.

What are you doing these days HM? Dining with Ron Paul on your own planet????

          • McCullough says:

There is a reason why Trump is where he is today. It’s the conservatives rejection of the status quo, or the so-called “leaders of his own party”.

In that regard, yes, he is a “centrist”.

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Well, not to dither… but … its not “conservatives” rejecting their party but a large minority of the Far Right Fringe of the Republican Party. That part of the party who only have the KKK to vote for if they don’t go Republican.

You might want to be careful about equating “conservative” with “right wing” with Republican Party. They all overlap with one another, as almost any subject will across a range, but really are three distinct subjects.

In that regard, he is NOT centrist, nor even moving towards the center, but rather is on an entirely different scale that may have points of intersection, but are not on the same scale as left/center/right can be found on all continuums.

Trump is an egotistical megalomaniac that has no use for truth or facts. He responds to the roar of his own followers….kinda like Charles Manson. He just has more nuts gathered up following his banter.

To call him centrist in any way would be part of the package of lies he is foisting off. Surprising what you will make a full meal of.

          • Hmeyers says:

He’s no bible thumping Ted Cruz.

Trump doesn’t care about gay marriage or what bathroom you use. Doesn’t want to cut social security or medicare, etc. He’s not for free trade.

            He’s pretty centrist.

You’ll disagree, but you partisan guys disagree with any statement that doesn’t agree with your team’s propaganda.

In that sense, you don’t care about the assertion “is he a centrist?” but rather you would not agree to perceived positive statement about another team’s candidate.

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

            Well HM…. back from lunch??

First view: good argument. Lets look again:

Is a centrist anyone who is not as wacked out as Ted Cruz???? Only to highlight where every discussion should start: lets define.

centrist: Supporting or pursuing a course of action that is neither liberal nor conservative 2. A person who takes a position in the political center

Is that what anyone thinks of Trump?

Seems the definition you want to use is: anyone who is not 100% totally wacked out of his skull? Satisfied by 3-4 positions of Trump that are traditionally Democratic? But what of the 20 positions that are Fascist and Ego-maniacal?

In “my” book, calling Trump a Centrist is totally insulting to the ….. to the …. ha, ha. To “real” conservatives which all of us should be when it comes to financial/budget/spending/taxing issues. But it is also insulting to Republicans, which is why so many traditional Pukes are against him, some even saying they’d vote for Hillary. Is that because Trump is a Centrist?====>given your attention span, please note I just said some Pukes will vote for Hillary….She’s not a centrist either. Too far right….which is why Pukes could vote for her.

It is all a mix of things though. You can fixate and stall out on whatever bright light leaves you “hybnotized.”

          • MikeN says:

Fascist policies belong to the Democratic Party. Not sure how many of those Trump has. I guess his child care plan would be an example.

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

            Ahem: Trum the Fascist:

            1. beat up that protester,
            2. ban the media,
            3. tell business where they can do business,
            4. toady up to other World Fascist leaders because “they are strong.”
            5. Shamelessly lie about the sitting Pres re birther issue
            6. “Where’s my African?”
            7. Build a wall
            8. Replace/overrule Congress by having “good negotiators” across a range of issue: China, Mexico, Military

            ………….. etc.

More Fun: How Trump is a sexist Pig.

          • Hmeyers says:

It may be insulting to “real conversatives” but I would say that I borderline hate “real conservatives”.

I like Trump because he is socially liberal and a fiscal moderate and against free trade.

I also find it funny that he essentially duped the Republican Party and their voters.

He is against almost every traditional Republican position from free trade to gay marriage to cutting social programs.

And what’s twice as funny …

People like Pedro love Trump because Trump has an (R) next to him name.

            Trump is a super-con artist.

          • MikeN says:

Maybe #3 is fascist, that’s about it.

          • MikeN says:

HMeyers, yes. Scott Adams calls it pacing, then leading.

Many of Trump’s voters realize this, but feel that Hillary is too much of a disaster. If she keeps up about the no-fly zone, some Bernie voters will as well.

          • Hmeyers says:

            @Mike

Trump the sneaky bastard had the Peter Thiel — who is gay — as the headline speaker at the Republican convention.

He also did a segment on swearing to protecting the LBGT community from terrorists, which got applause — and then Trump said “That’s nice to hear here”.

More or less driving a stake into the heart of religious bigots. Ted Cruz and his bigotry and likeminded people got smashed.

I have always wanted a “middle candidate”.

Not a guy like Romney where I privately think his priorities may be “fat cats”, he never came across as someone who cared about the common man.

Frankly, I thought Obama was that guy in 2008.

Anyway, when Trump isn’t being sarcastic and smearing people like Cruz’s wife or saying Carly Fionia has an ugly face, I like him.

          • NewFormatSux says:

HMeyers, you missed it re Fiorina. Trump wasn’t calling her ugly. Not that he wouldn’t do it, but Fiorina isn’t ugly.
He said ‘look at that face.’
He is talking about her being angry.

  17. Mr Anderson says:

Trump’D will be in a position to exit the election days before the vote because of some strange reason. Giving the election to Clinton for a haha, got you GOP fools. Only to announce his new show: ‘Who wants to be a President?’
Or, if elected, send the country and the world into the Greatest Depression, and he ends up owning 99% of Earth.

        4. Repeal Obamacare it’s broke beyond repair
        5. Hillary is not healthy enough to be President, and I don’t want to end up with whats-his-name.

          1. The Economy (National debt) /// His often announced plans for tax cuts to the AlreadyTooRich and to increase Military Spending shows he will increase the Nat Debt Tremendously—with little benefit to anyone but his class.

          2. Open Borders issues (Globalism, Trade issues) /// I agree with the issue spotting, but every one of his “solutions” would only make things worse. A wall? GET REAL. A Thin lie to the Chest Pounders. What he has to do is get after assholes like himself who draw the illegals over the border to his slave wage jobs.

          3. Hillary is a war-monger /// True that….but in balance, at least she knows we shouldn’t go around threatening the first use of Nukes because someone looks at us crosseyed.

          4. Repeal Obamacare it’s broke beyond repair /// Yep—just as planned and forced by the Pukes. Trump and Hillary would both correct O-Care by extending MediCare or having single payer. NO ONE, with a brain, thought O-Care would work….it just was the first egg that had to be broken to get us off of for profit healthcare so the USA can join the rest of the Civilized world.

          5. Hillary is not healthy enough to be President, and I don’t want to end up with whats-his-name. /// BS. No one knows her actual health status. Powering through thinking you can BS your doctor/your healthcare/as easily as you can the voters….not too smart. But…they are all egotists.

Knowing what I know about Clinton(s), I could never vote for her. /// Yeah…you got some facts but fail to make the comparison to the other choice that is actually available as opposed to what you would do or what perfection would allow.

Good effort. 95% wrong….but good effort.

    1. The Democrats have been wrong about the economy, and she isn’t even addressing it. Liberals think it’s fine, it’s not fine. /// Total boiler plate garbage. You have nothing here until you give a specific issue where “Democrats are Wrong” and extra points if you can give a better solution. You can’t. Empty dog whistles.

2, Again, the Democrats dont even address the open borders issue, except for the fact that if you’re not “for” open borders, your a deplorable racist. Thats not any kind of a solution. /// I basically agree. I think only a fringe element of the Dumbos are for open borders… most are not. I do have some recollection of Dumbo’s wanting secure bio-metric ID cards and a national registry of legal workers so that Employers can do an instant check on legality………but the Pukes vote it down all the time so they can shit in their pants regarding the Dumbo’s being for open borders. yes…. we all notice when the Pukes do that.

    3. Trump talks big , but Hillary and Obama are personally responsible for the current situation in Libya, and Syria due to the overthrow od Ghadaffi and the gun that ended up in the hands of ISIS. We KNOW what Hillary will do, we don’t really know what Trump will do. /// What do you mean by “personally.” do you think that gives extra weight to your opinion? Hint: it just makes you look extra stupid. BUT… to the degree its true…what with “some” other people involved in the issue…I give little blame to Hillary and all of it to Obama. She was a do nothing but travels alot Sect of State and Obama was determined not to start a Third War possibly involving Russia. I think honest and informed people can see the subtlety of the issues.

    4. No one with a brain thought Obamacare would work, which tells you much about the Liberal thinking. /// Ha, ha….no stupid: enough Pukes bought off on it as it was originally the REPUBLICANS OWN RECOMMENDED HEALTHCARE REFORM PACKAGE….which is why it doesn’t work. But what would and will work was not possible. You don’t appear to even recognize the process.

    5. Hillary is not healthy. Anyone “with a brain” can see that, and all of the lies from the left cannot convince me otherwise. /// Most high school drop outs can’t see and diagnose a person from behind from 50 feet away from a 10 second video tape. Even skilled physicians rely on labortory tests. Which test result leads you to make what specific diagnosis??? Whats the prognosis???? How many such patients have you treated?

Well, it was a good start….. but you really have nothing. Pedro territory next I assume.

    • Hmeyers says:

Hillary spent the summer courting disaffected establishment Republicans.

Like Jeb Bush mega-donors and the Jewish dual-citizenship war hawk mega-donors.

While she was going all out to get the support of Republican mega-donors and neocons, she ignored her base.

Because she takes her own party for granted.

She won’t insult her own party’s loyal core, but she doesn’t care about them.

      She’s the queen, you’re a peasant.

      “Let Them Eat Cake!”

      • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

HM–I agree with the direction or tone of your comment “but” I don’t think she ignored her base. She gave her standard stump speech and many elements of her base are just not convinced…the youth are departing from Clinton as what do they have to show from the Clintons except massive college debt and no jobs? The Blacks are still strongly with Clinton because she talks a good game while Trump is seen as a racist. The Womens vote…I forget…I start to tune out when the news is about the horse race and not about issues. IE–I hardly ever listen to politicians or their representatives…… always their critics though…. not from the other side but from book writers… people who actually rely from time to time on facts.

Hah! There is still a position to see with the current race: Johnson: horrible mess of anarchistic totally unworkable policies just like every libertarian, Trump: a total egotistal meglomaniac who would treat USA as a game show contestant to dance and twirl at his bidding, Clinton: same old same old Wall Street Corrupt politician feathering her own nest as opportunities might arise: not much good, some bad, but probably nothing horribly destructive.

        Great choices.

        • Lou Weezy says:

Hillary Clinton was injured in a plane crash on a secret visit to Iran. She suffered severe head trauma in the crash and that is what has made her ill and unsuitable to be President.

As well these backroom deals with Iran and others that they hide from the American public are treasonous at best. See the Wikileaks doc below on the crash and sneaky bullshit that we aren’t being made aware of.

Jill Stein believes in magic crystals, homeopathy, anti-vaxxer. There’s a scientist right there. She’d kill us all by removing herd immunity and other things doctors and scientists say is important.

Gary Johnson seems like an idiot. Libertarians are naive idiots in general, so makes sense. A libertarian doesn’t understand concepts like “in order for their to be property, there must be a government who records owns it and cops to enforce those records and judges to handle the disputes peacefully.”

But, yeah, I can see your perspective.

I see Trump more of a man who is a reflection of our times and the low bar of social media, not a role model.

He has the determination — others making his mistakes/controversies would have dropped out 20 times over by now.

Combined with the fact that his campaign deliberately sought to target the working class first and he can describe the problems and isn’t a homophobe or racist is why I like him.

I understand you wouldn’t agree with some of the latter, but I’m explaining my perspective.

        • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

          Wheezy: waste of time.

HM–Jill Stein: no doubt benefits from not being reported on at all. I did catch tail end of some interview where she was saying her position on vaccination was totally off base….something I would hope a doctor would think…..but as a general rule, I don’t think Doctors make good politicians.

Johnson: we agree. Wells so much better.

Trump: all you’ve done is relate why you like him or certain aspects of his character. THAT doesn’t go to whether he would be a good or bad President. Liking or despising homosexuals for instance hardly matters. What matters is: what you gonna do on the subject? And in Trumps case, its evidently would be to provide single payer medical care while bankrupting the country with an expanded Military and tax cuts to the Already too Rich. You know: Voodoo economics.

You need to have more analysis than: You like him. Shirley you can dig deeper?

  23. NewFormatSux says:

It occurs to me, Trump is like Howard Dean. He excited the base and rocketed to the top of the polls from out of nowhere.
National Review ran a cover talking about how bad he would be.
Democrats believed it and went for Kerry.
This time, Democrats celebrated Trump’s victory as producing an easy win for Hillary and maybe a sweep up and down the ballot, just as National Review predicted if you nominate Dean.

The similarity that strikes me is once the debates started, Dean had already established his position with the base, and he sounded more moderate than the other Democrats who were catching up.

Kerry whiffed on an easy setup about the Boston Red Sox and the manager leaving Pedro Martinez in the game, probably because he has no clue about baseball. If he wasn’t chasing after Dean’s voters he could have made the election winning answer of Pedro got us the lead, now you need me to finish the job.

    • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

I think more than anything else that Trump got the nomination BECAUSE there were 20 other candidates to split up the Not a Nut Ball vote. Trump does NOT appeal to the Republican Base but rather a large fringe element of it. Further…he appeals to the Never Hillary voter. Thats about it.

Course, who and what the Republican party is, or what its “base” is does vary… with lots of overlap.

Its always “sad” when “process” provides the winning analysis over substance…but it happens a lot.

      • Hmeyers says:

One of the other candidates could have produced a reason *why* they were running.

Trump – immigration, bad trade deals, against foreign wars
Sanders – bad trade deals, education, anti-Wall Street

With each of the above, you could list issues.

Rand Paul – what was he going to do? His dad — Ron Paul — might have legalized marijuana or something if he got elected and made us carry around gold bullion for coins. But what was Rand Paul’s plan?

        Chris Christie – ?
        Jeb – ?
        Kasich – ?
        Rubio – ?
Ted Cruz – family values. But unlike Jesus who had compassion for sinners, the poor, lepers and prostitutes — and phrases like “let he who is without sin cast the first stone” — Ted Cruz subscribes to a fiery version of Christianity where Jesus isn’t a role model. (How does that work?)

        And on and on.

        • NewFormatSux says:

Christian conservatives Huckabee and Santorum both seemed to think that Cruz was faking the religious. They never endorsed him.

        • NewFormatSux says:

Rand Paul, isolationism, stolen by Trump, as well as the bad hair.

Chris Christie tough guy, stolen by Trump.

Jeb Bush – Republican Hillary who gave her a ‘Liberty Medal’, punching bag for Trump. Without him, maybe Donald doesn’t win.

Marco Rubio – Golden Boy, attacked by all candidates, loved by all pundits, who couldn’t bear to endorse Cruz over him when it mattered, despite the clear evidence that Rubio couldn’t beat Trump head to head.

Kasich – Hey he wins all the polls against Hillary. Dagger to Jeb Bush who needed all those votes from liberal Republicans. Won as many states as Golden Boy.

        • Hmeyers says:

Do you know badly Ted Cruz would lose a national election?

The guy has no ability to socialize.
The guy doesn’t project any kind of inner warmth.

Hillary thinks peasants that aren’t voting for are “deplorable”.

Ted Cruz thinks anyone with a different point of view than his own is a sinner.

Even of ton of members of his own party couldn’t bring themselves to endorse him to stop Trump.

          • MikeN says:

Yes, but he was the only Republican who had a chance to beat Trump for the nomination.

You speak of sinners, do you know that Cruz’s primary megadonor is a gay couple?

      • NewFormatSux says:

The splitting of the vote works in two directions. As candidates drop out some of those voters would pick Trump too. 46% in Nevada against a split field, hard to argue he wouldn’t get 50 head to head against anyone.
He won Indiana head to head against Cruz pretty easily.

That said, a smaller field could have produced a different candidate as they built up a big lead and took away Trump’s “WINNER” image.

        • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Agreed and I think anyone other than Cruz would have had an immediate and unavoidable platform with great appeal: Not Trump.

After that, it would have been standard boilerplate Rpublican talking points regardless of what the candidate actually thought/track record/etc.

          I can beat Hillary.
          Hillary is no Good.
Obama and Obamacare have got to go.
          I’ll protect your guns.
          Tax cuts for Everyone.
Lets double the size of the Military.
          Lets stone gays every Sunday…….

          ………. and God Bless America.

          Nothing changes.

          • Hmeyers says:

And Ted Cruz wanted to make sure that if you were raped that you would carry the baby to term because he didn’t believe in exceptions for rape or incest.

The far right comes up with some real doozies.

          • MikeN says:

It didn’t get into the low 80s, until the early afternoon hours. By then, Hillary had reappeared outside Chelsea’s apartment. All better.

I think she ducked out of the 9-11 ceremony, for security concerns. Like avoiding lead poisoning. So a body double was her stand-in, until they carried her into the black van. Where Hillary was safely waiting. And this whole dehydration business has been a cover, for avoiding pubic exposure to a sniper.
