Tesla beats super car while pulling another super car on a trailer.

  1. Hmeyers says:

I did watch the video and even seeing that I’m not sure exactly what to think.

I don’t know enough about the technical specs of electric cars, but I would guess the Tesla has something like a CVT (continuously variable transmission).

So the acceleration over a combustion engine would be incredible and apparently even towing a car.

  2. Mr Diesel - Go Trump Go!! Beat Hillary Like a Snare Drum says:

Maximum torque for an electric motor starts at zero RPM. A gas engine might start around 3,000-5,000 RPM. That’s what gets you going quickly.

  3. Psycho says:

So a small sports car with a 1.7L engine is a supercar? I don’t think so.

  4. Peppeddu says:

Wait until a jailbreak for the Model X become available and you can make it go even faster than “ludicrous mode”

  5. NewFormatSux says:

Haven’t you already established that Tesla drivers should not be using lots of acceleration?

    • Mr Diesel - Go Trump Go!! Beat Hillary Like a Snare Drum says:

Well for sure we have precedent that Tesla drivers should never read e-mail while driving.

  6. Ah_Yea says:

I loved the observation that the Tesla looks like it was designed by an anime artist drawing a cat with wheels.

  7. Double Tire Desire says:

Ugly. Pure and simple, over priced boxes of (fast) UGLY!

Don’t bullshit yourself either. These things are just slight variations on even older STATION WAGONS! Everybody’s got one. So you might even say these things are also BORING!

That’s my verdict — BORING AND UGLY. No matter how fast they go, nor even if there’s a mechanical girl included to blow you when you stick the key in, boring and ugly steroid station wagons. YUK!

    • NewFormatSux says:

The station wagons disappeared because of CAFE mileage standards, along with large cars. Compare the old and new Impala.

In response we saw SUVs that get even less mileage.
Lower CAFE to 22 and overall mileage will increase.

  8. bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Point is: such reviews increase the awareness and acceptibility, even demand, for electric cars. SO: their adoption will come on much faster than normally predicted.

Just read that futuristic guy (whats his name?) is ahead of the pack mostly just by predicting an exponential growth curve in whatever he looks at (coincidentally tech products?) rather than a straight line.

You know…..we are accelerating into the future.

  9. WebbRowan says:

How do we even know the review isn’t staged? Scratch that, we need to look at the longer effects on the car after putting the Tesla through its paces like that. Just because it wins in the one race, it doesn’t mean that you won’t suffer the effects later on when the car runs out of a charge after expending itself in a race like that right?
