You can’t just make this up. The ultimate in political correctness.

I guess Martin Luther King wasn’t good enough for them?

  1. Ah_Yea says:

Black lives matter! Blame the whitee!

Jackson was a slave holder, Tubman was a slave liberator!

White guilt on display and in your pocket, just in case you forget your privilege.

It’s been 50 years since Johnson’s Great Society and people are starting to question.

Al Sharpton! Jessie Jackson! Obama! To the rescue! We MUST remind the country how racist we are! (And if we’re not that racist, we must create NEO RACISM!) Treyvon Martin -I could have been him-, Michael Brown -hands up don’t shoot!-,

After all, how can the race baiters stay relevant is there is no racism?

    • ± says:

I revel in my “white privilege”. If I was a dog and “white privilege” was something smelly, I would roll in it every day. I would then rub it off on everyone and anyone who would let me. And I would rub it on those who don’t let me. ‘White privilege’, ‘white privilege’, ‘white privilege’. Ahhhhhh it sounds so good. Ahhhhhh it feels so good. Too bad I’m not a god… er … I mean dog.

Still … now if this weren’t enuff, I will get to bask in my “white privilege” every time I open my wallet! What a great country we live in!!

Our government (USA) is the most racist institution on the planet. There isn’t anything that happens that they can’t be thinking about race first and foremost (regardless of all other data) before proceeding. This is the very definition of racism.

Ooopsy. I almost forgot to mention how awesome it is to be white.

      • Ah_Yea says:

NO! NO! You must be shouted down!!

Hey, If I’m a white guy and I buy something with a Harriet Tubman, what does that say about me??

        • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

You are at the Dollar Store?

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Whoops, my mistake. I was thinking the tubman was only a dollar. I think McCullough confused me with all his cerebralness.

………ummm….. so….you should be getting a lot of change back?

          • McCullough says:

If you were at the dollar store, and you used a Harry Tubman, you would receive back exactly 19 dollars.

But it would only be worth 9 dollars and fitty cent.

And thats because of the Federal Reserve, in whom you can trust.

      • ± says:

Wow, you really are obsessed with my avatar. Very entertaining.

And that picture is at your last link is pretty funny. See … you don’t always have to be a total douchebag.

      • ± says:

Does anyone know how to get the image at link which noname provided; http://dsbbsuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/original/3X/4/6/46cb834eb4678e6c1b16e0ff4c5b7f08380df4ea.jpg to print out? My printer senses it may be currency and won’t print it, but rather spits out a page with the link http://rulesforuse.org. There has to be a work around for this.

        • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

No joy here. The image copied and pasted into photoshop without issue. Printer is out of ink….so can’t test but looks like it “should” work?

As a kluge, you could change the tint on the bill to avoid the dollar bill color detection?

        • McCullough says:

Printed out fine for me, there’s a watermark on the bottom left so my HP Laserjet didnt care.

        • ± says:

I tried resizing it, cutting it in half and printing the halves, resizing the halves, etc. and couldn’t make it work on my printer. Finally I found an old printer in the office that printed it out 1/1 scale on the first try.

Prediction: 5 years from now you won’t be able to buy a printer that will copy any major currency of the world. Hold on to an old legacy printer for various reasons.

        • ± says:

Also forgot to add, I was at a branch opening party of my company’s bank tonight. Those bankers are cool. I got lots of mileage flashing “the new 20 dollar bill”. 🙂

        • NewFormatSux says:

I got all the way down to the yellow 20 to print. Paste it in Paintbrush twice, top to bottom.
          It still activates the detector.

  2. bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

I’ve heard the name and probably read a thumbnail of her bio a few times, but I had to look her up: http://biography.com/people/harriet-tubman-9511430#escape-from-slavery-and-abolitionism

Its good to go for a two-fer a woman and a black….now Alexander Hamilton can rest a bit more easily.

But…………why not a three-fer and remove “In god we Trust” from the bill as only an idiot would trust in such superstition. I mean, at least “In the Federal Reserve we Trust” would at least have a chance of working????

Ha, ha………but why the sideline off on white privilege? Can only be from a knee jerk racist. Lets see who said that:………………… tisk, tisk. Oh_No opened the door and P/M pushes right through it.

Whats wrong whiteys? Not proud of your own family roots?

“A life unexamined is not worth living.”

    aka—you two.

    • jpfitz says:

      Definitely agree about the two-fer.

The three-fer would would be impossible right now, god and the Fed will be the status quo.

Whitey can’t understand or feel white privilege, one must walk in the black mans shoe to fully appreciate the differences.

      • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

I disagree. Empathy, intelligence, insight, history…..oops, OK. You may have a point.

      • McCullough says:

I partially disagree, as a card-carrying member of the white devil club, living for many years on an island that is 85% black, you can certainly get a feel for the “privilege” of the majority.

Reverse racism is indeed a thing.

        • Ah_Yea says:

I learned the same thing when I lived in St. Thomas. I certainly wasn’t “privileged” there!

(No dreadlocks, No Holy Weed, No rainbow colored cap, No bueno)

          • McCullough says:

Then I’ll bet you are familiar with the delightful term “White Muddascunt”?

          • Ah_Yea says:

            All too familiar.

          • McCullough says:

Yeah, the first time I heard it, I asked someone, “Why is he calling me a Mother Skunk”?.

            Har.

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

………….and the kicker is that you two, and myself with other races, don’t really care.

That is one of the most positive aspects of white privilege. We should act to help all people gain this acceptance of themselves.

          • ± says:

There is no such thing as “white privilege”.

You drank, enjoyed, gargled, ingested, digested, and then finally voided back to us, the cool-aide.

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

White privilege is what you have when one race enslaves another for 300 years, follows that with 100 years of Jim Crow laws, follows that with 50 years of Red Lining, follows that with 40 years of Family Destroying Welfare and then declares that Racism is over and everyone should work hard to support themselves.

Whereever there is overt racism and even an undercurrent of racism, you observe, directly yourself according to your own testimony, that one race is advantaged while another is disadvantaged. That creates xyz privilege…fill in the blank for the time and place.

Failure to do so is the result of not thinking critically and taking life’s circumstances as only natural.

            Silly Hoomans.

      • NewFormatSux says:

Antiracism is a religion for some white people. Black people are sacred objects in this religion, while they have to constantly create sins and devils to fight. Black people can never be totally part of this religion as they are incapable of seeing black people as sacred objects. That is reserved for white people living in 99% non-black areas.

  3. McCullough says:

I propose we put Fitty Cent’s mug on the dollar bill. That would at least make some kind of sense.

    • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

It would be too confusing. Would it be worth a dollar, or fitty cents?

  4. Hmeyers says:

It kind of sounds like conspiracy to keep the black man down.

Keep telling African Americans all you can be is a victim.

I view the SJW agenda as to aggrandize and put the white man on a pedal-stool.

They don’t think of it that way, but what they sell is that white man is naturally superior.

And it isn’t true. But if you sell African Americans that no amount of education and discipline will make life “fair”, they will underperform.

… And not reach intellectual and spiritual enlightenment.

I consider a strange conspiracy to suppress black people.

  5. jpfitz says:

Jackson had to go. Tubman is a great choice for our time.

“In addition to his legal and political career, Jackson prospered as planter, slave owner, and merchant. He built a home and the first general store in Gallatin, Tennessee, in 1803. The next year he acquired the Hermitage, a 640-acre (259 ha) plantation in Davidson County, near Nashville. He later added 360 acres (146 ha) to the plantation, which eventually grew to 1,050 acres (425 ha). The primary crop was cotton, grown by enslaved workers. Starting with nine slaves, he held as many as 44 by 1820 and later held up to 150 slaves, making him among the planter elite. Throughout his lifetime Jackson may have owned as many as 300 slaves.[17][18]”

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Jackson

    • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

I agree he is in last place for those honored so far….unless whoever is on the 100?

Washington deserves to always stay ….. and I think Hamilton has the second best argument to always stay. Wash = Father of our Country, Hamilton = Father of our Currency/Banking/Financial.

Of the two, I think MLK did more for Blacks….but he’s not a two-fer.

Pros and Cons to all we do.

      • McCullough says:

So what is this fixation with bankers?

        • Hmeyers says:

Bobbo has inadvertently become part of the banking agenda.

They spent so much money on commercials and branding and media campaigns, Bobbo could only hold out for so long.

        • Tim says:

At the same time you’ve got NAFTA, TTIP, and. the TPP. DemocRATs aren’t exactly pro-string-home-flourishing-manufacturing-center mavens here. If your standard of pro-Murrica is murrican jobs in murrica, how can you be a drat and be American, too?

        • The Author says:

If you are going to cut and paste directly from an article, at least put quotations around the parts that you copied, or give credit to the original writer.

Else thee be a Douche-bag of the highest order.

      • jpfitz says:

Bobbo, Ben was very bad, he captured run-away slaves and sold them from his store front. In today’s speak we’d say Ben “evolved” on the issue of slavery.

The Brits taught Ben a few lessons, one that Blacks are just as human as whites. Holy Shitsnacks.

        • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

jp: who is this Ben you speak of? In context, it should be Andrew Jackson……but he never evolved. Jacksonian democracy was for whites. Ben Franklin…..never owned slaves to my knowledge…. he could have or indentured servitude was common in the printing trade….consider it as apprenticeship.

          Some other guy?

          • jpfitz says:

            “Slavery

During Franklin’s lifetime slaves were numerous in Philadelphia. In 1750, half the persons in Philadelphia who had established probate estates owned slaves. Dock workers in the city consisted of 15% slaves. Franklin owned as many as seven slaves, two males of whom worked in his household and his shop. Franklin posted paid ads for the sale of slaves and for the capture of runaway slaves and allowed the sale of slaves in his general store. Franklin profited from both the international and domestic slave trade, even criticizing slaves who had run off to join the British Army during the colonial wars of the 1740s and 1750s.”

Ben…you know, the bald white guy with the key and a kite.

    • NewFormatSux says:

Hamilton was saved by the Broadway play, and the Obama admin didn’t want to upset the arts lovers in their coalition.

  6. ThadCo says:

This woman was an undeniable hero and a true example of what America should stand for. I think it was absolutely the perfect choice. If you disagree, you might be a chauvinist or racist asshole. Except McCullough, he is definitely an asshole. 🙂

  7. NewFormatSux says:

The Democratic Party used to routinely hold Jefferson Jackson dinners, now it has disowned them.
A little surprising that they would replace Jackson with a gun-toting Republican.

    • Ah_Yea says:

      Oh your right!

Harriet Tubman would have been a gun toting Republican!

What a great way to open the “conversation” that Democrats ruled the south, created the Jim Crow laws, and legislated the racist gun control laws.

      • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Takes a total fool to be so wed to labels.

Do you even know what “substance” means?

  8. NewFormatSux says:

Jackson is a reasonable choice who only got on there in 1928 when he replaced Grover Cleveland, who like Eisenhower sneaked on real quick.

Jackson helped make the country what it is, and his true heirs can be seen right now with James Webb and Donald Trump. Bernie Sanders has a little with his bashing of Wall Street.

  9. Hmeyers says:

Won’t take place until 2020 at the earliest.

    2030 at the latest.

“William Jarmon was happy to learn that Harriet Tubman was chosen to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill — but disappointed that redesign might not take place until 2030.”

“If the Treasury has its way, the newly designed $20 bill will enter circulation much sooner than first thought, with the new designs ready by 2020.”

  10. bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Perusing the thread, I am compelled to add/correct that MLK did more for whites than did Tubman. different times and cultures involved.

but MLK was a great man with much to teach us all. A preacher and a pussy hound. A black man in a white culture. Counseling peace in times of brutal murder. Anti-War in a time of Jingoism.

    A better man than myself.

    • ± says:

And any random person chosen who has garnered a PhD probably didn’t plagiarize 50%+¹ of his thesis. You eulogize his philandering on his wife by conferring “pussy hound” status to him. I guess (to you) Bill Clinton was a “pussy hound” too.

MLK was a loser piece of shit compared to most Americans who work and are honest and he got a national holiday. This shows you how fucked up R/D governance is. Tubman is a mensch. MLK wouldn’t deserve to be in the same room with her or any regular person.

¹every year as more old books and articles and thesis’ are digitized the percentage of MLKs known plagiarism goes up. You are a cool-aid drinker nonpareil.

      • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Everything has been thought of before. finding it already said does not prove plagiarism. Preaching and Teaching what someone else has said is not plagiarism.

        What happened to you PM?

        • ± says:

Do you not know what the word “plagiarism” means? Or are you in denial because the truth causes you too much cognitive dissonance? Nothing happened to me. I have no problem with the truth. The problem lies with you.

Anyone can start here. There are 100s of references and growing.

          http://martinlutherking.org/plagiarism.html

      • NewFormatSux says:

I’ll agree with bobbo. While he is a plagiarist, I don’t think it is important for political speech, with exceptions for personal things like Joe Biden and maybe Obama’s copying Deval Patrick.

MLK is not famous for his doctoral thesis, any more than Kennedy is famous for ‘earning’ a Pulitzer Prize for the work of Theodore Sorensen.

If his speeches are filled with the words of others, who cares?
It would be really boring to hear ‘Gandhi said…’

        • ± says:

He was a liar at the most basic level of his personality. You have to be to do what he did. It is sickening that the man is eulogized when most randomly chosen people are more honorable than he was.

We teach the MLK lie in schools. It is a symptom of the sickness of our society that politics supersedes truth.

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Ok…………..I’m actually curious. What lie from MLK are you thinking of?

I “basically” referenced that universe of faults (being human) in calling him a pussy hound.

Thats not a lie, so what have you got? Every agressive thing he said that conservative white asshats don’t like that I am aware of, I agree with and don’t think were lies……just denied truths.

            So………what have you got?

          • ± says:

            “…I’m actually curious…”

The body extant of his lies. What about that don’t you understand?

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Can’t even lie? One dumb racist.

  11. Outside the Box says:

Barney Frank on a three-dollar bill?

Group shot of Congress on a twenty-billion dollar bill? Pay off the debt.

  12. Hocus Pocus says:

I’m surprised no one has asked, what’s next? Aunt Jemima vs. Mrs. Butterworth?! Because THAT’S the level of stupid we have collectively become.

Stop and THINK, if you can. Could this be something subliminal? Message being: all you who carry “money” are no better than slaves. Or possibly even directed to get main stream America to avoid money altogether and use even more credit just to avoid looking at this ugly woman?

I’m telling you, there’s something no one is seeing here and it’s right in front of everyone’s FACE!

  13. bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Greg Gutfeld’s routine is on the tube right now. Has a picture of Tubman in a jacket with nothing on her head other than close cornrows of hair. Not as “severe” looking as the $20 Tubman. I see 3 differences: she is younger, more light is used which lightens the skin, she looks a bit younger.

Hmmmm….. we can fight against racism and sexism, but we will have a tough time with ageism.

I think bout this with my departed Maw. When I arrive at heaven, will she be the Maw of my Birth, the Maw when I moved back in post college, or the Maw I moved back in with just before she died? Or will she and Dad both be when they married.

Yeah, I know…… thats not what Heaven and Angels are. More of a mystery sort of thing.

Believing in things you can’t even understand or actually want: its so Hooman, so American……..so Hollywoood Movie. Think I did see a movie once where the same person was perceived in 15 different ways acording to the desires of the soul perceiving. Now, that would be a Heaven I could get behind. Would Tubman still be a slave (other than to god of course) or would she be free? Young or Old. Light or Dark. Armed of course but with a rifle or the bible? both or neither. Well…….it is Heaven. I assume she would be all these choice and more, including none of them all at the same time.

Because, you know, thats how Heaven works.

    • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

It is to the degree that poetry is private revelry…but the rhyming scheme is open, so not preferred.

      Heaven, yes, Heaven
I would make a nice Haiku
      Only rhyme: Seven.

  14. Faxon, the racist son of a bitch says:

Being a priviledged, racist son-of-a-white-bitch, I admit I would have prefered that they leave the rascist, white, son-of-a-bitch on the bill. That being said, a butt-ugly dead black woman is OK. I put them in my safe without declaring them as income, or paying taxes on them just the same. Now, I will have a motive in collecting Andrew Jacksons as much as possible, like buffalo nickels.
